Too Little Too Latelm. rough the use of the different themes and events that the director Alberto Verme is effectively able to portray, convey and present his debut lm that relates well to many of the themes that occur in today’s society especially the current recession and levels of unemployment. e way in which Alberto Verme is able to present this on the screen cannot be doubted and his short lm is professionally constructed to add effect to the non-stop shots that occur in the shooccur in the short lm. Lucas Rossi’s and Ariana Verme’s debuts in the short lm help to emphasize the potential that they have in the lm industry. Helps to show the different themes that the director Alberto Verme is intending to illustrate, through the way in which Lucas Rossi acts through the natural motions andexpressions that Lucas Rossi carries out throughout theproduction. However, his acting along with Ariana Verme’s acting is shackled due to the fact that there is limited dialogue throughout the whole lm, whilst there are some instances where there is the use of dialogue the Director decision not to use

dialogue has limited the potential’ of his actors and their added value to the overall production.

e target audience seems to be Rah’s and the Creatives who are targeted through the different events that occur during the course of the lm. e Rah’s are attracted and targeted during the course of the lm through the well - dressed manor of both of the ccharacters and the fact that the theme of the lm revolves around the climax of the Financial Crisis. Creatives are also targeted through the unconventional split screen and the unexpected ending of the lm involving a news archive that is not conventional at all of most short lms. e reality is easy to follow due to no narration it is easy to follow and viewers can easily relate to through the didifferent scenes of waking up, brushing his teeth and going out for a usual day of work. e reality of the different situations for the individual Clarence DuPont are not clearly shown but are assumed to be understood by the Director, that adds effect

and clarity to the lm because it allows the audience to understand and perceive the every changing action in the lm as they do t. It is clear that the Directors was inspired by other short lms such as LXIV and Berliner; this is shown through the use of the different and cconstant changing of the different shots that are being shown and captured during the course of the lm. ese are used in lms such as LXIV and Berliner to show the different lifestyles of the individuals and are copied in this instance in “ Too Little Too Late “. Moreover, the links between each lm are further strengthened through the fact that in “ Too Little Too Late” there are instances that shinstances that show how easy it is for an individual to become demotivated and not wanting to go to an interview that could be potentially life changing. On the other hand it also shows how easy it is for someone to make the most out of an opportunity.

Despite the fDespite the fact that there is little use of script apart from some small instances of dialogue, is supported through the use of the fantastic shots and cinematography. Due to the use of POV shots, Close Ups and Mid Shots along with the use of lightning, the short lm becomes more attractive to the viewer and enhances the visual appeal of the lm as a enhances the visual appeal of the lm as a result. e bright lighting that is used during the course of the lm helps to express the tone of the lm as an upbeat lm and the deep plot that is emphasized through the different color ranges that add to the natural effects of the lm. e use of color allows the viewer to be prepared and anticipate the narrative and the ccontinuation of the plot during the course of the lm. In one scene, one of the protagonists in one screen has a pleasant breakfast whereas the other one is rather clumsy and has to redress due to coffee spilling on his shirt.

e e News Archive sequence at the end helps to draw the attention of the viewer and gives them an unexpected twist, this just adds to creativity and demonstrates the thought that was carried out for the short lm. Most impoimportantly it seals the fate of both the characters. What ultimately makes this particular short lm so special is the innovation in the ending of the lm through the use of the non – linear structure and the enigma code that is clearly followed during the duration of the lm.

THE VERDICT I hugely recommend going to watch this lm and watch out for Alberto Verme with his didirecting in years to come. We hope he can continue to deliver these scintillating short lms and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the futures of Lucas Rossi and Ariana Verme as actors.
