SUMMARY

BETWEEN JULY 15 AND OCTOBER 21, 1999, A LINECUTTING PROGRAM COMBINED WITH MAGNETIC, VLF, GEOLOGICAL MAPPING, AND PROSPECTING WAS CONDUCTED.

THE WORK WAS CONDUCTED IN WILKIE TOWNSHIP (CLAIM MAP G3587) LARDER LAKE MINING DIVISION, FOR AND BY THE CLAIM HOLDERS L.M. DYMENT AND J.A KIDSTON (JOINT TENANTS).

THE SURVEYS DELINEATED THE FAULT-BOUNDED KIDD-MUNRO ASSEMBLAGE, SEVERAL MAFIC INTRUSIVE BODIES, AND AEM ANOMALIES AS SHOWN ON OGS MAP 80574.

THE GEOLOGICAL AND STRUCTURAL SETTING MAY PROVIDE A POSSIBLE TARGET FOR HYDROTHERMAL GOLD MINERALIZATION OR A POLYMETALLIC BODY OF ECONOMIC PROPORTION.

AN INDUCED POLARIZARION OR HORIZONTAL LOOP SURVEY IS RECOMMENDED AS THE NEXT STEP OF EXPLORATION.

INTRODUCTION

WILKIE TOWNSHIP IS AN ORGANIZED TWP OF LOTS AND CONCESSIONS. THE HOLDERS IN RESEARCHING THE PROPERTY PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK, NOTICED A DESCREPANCY IN THE FORMER CLAIM HOLDER'S PLACEMENT OF HIS CLAIMS AND GRID.

USING OGS MAP 80574 AND CLAIM MAP G3587 AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE CROOK IN SHALLOW RIVER ON THE EAST BOUNDARY OF THE PROPERTY, WE INSTRUCTED OUR LINECUTTERS TO POSITION THE SOUTH BASELINE WITH BETTER AND MORE ACCURATE COVERAGE IN MIND. A SEARCH TO THE NORTH ALONG THE WILKIE-COULSON BOUNDARY ALSO LOCATED A CONCESSION POST AND THIS WAS USED TO MEASURE BACK TO SHALLOW RIVER AS A DOUBLE CHECK. THIS PROPER PLACING OF THE GRID GAVE US APPROXIMATELY HALF AS MUCH COVERAGE AGAIN THAN THE FORMER CLAIM HOLDER IN 1988, OF THE FAULT-BOUNDED KIDD-MUNRO AND DUFF-COULSON-RAND ASSEMBLAGE CONTACT.

WE ALSO HAD THE ADDITIONAL AID OF THE RECENTLY RELEASED OGS GEOLOGY MAP P3367 (fig 4). THIS MAP SHOWS THE INTERPRETED NORTH BRANCH OF THE DESTOR-PORCUPINE FAULT BOUNDING THE KIDD-MUNRO AND DUFF-COULSON-RAND ASSEMBLAGE CONTACT. (THE THINKING PRIOR TO THIS PLACED THE NORTH BRANCH 2 CLAIMS SOUTH.)

THIS WOULD ANSWER WHY THE FORMER CLAIM HOLDER SHOWED AN I . P. ANOMALY RIGHT UP TO THE WEST BOUNDARY OF THE PRESENT CLAIMS AND CHOSE TO DRILL I.P. ANOMALIES TO THE SOUTH (SEE fig 5 - L. M. DYMENT COMPILATION).

THE WILKIE CLAIMS MAY BE REACHED BY TAKING THE CARR TWP ROAD #2 NORTH FROM MATHESON (fig 1) FOR 14km. APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS PAST THE SHALLOW RIVER BRIDGE IS A TRAIL LEADING TO THE EAST FOR 3.5 km BY ATV OR BY FOOT TO THE PROPERTY.

"THE AREA IS UNDERLAIN BY ARCHEAN ROCKS OF THE ABITIBI GREENSTONE BELT. THE ABITIBI GREENSTONE BELT IS THE LARGEST GREENSTONE BELT IN THE CANADIAN SHIELD AND THE MOST PROLIFIC IN TERMS OF MINERAL PRODUCTION AND POTENTIAL.

CLASTIC METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS MAKE UP LESS THAN 20*fc OF THE ROCK TYPES AND CHEMICAL METASEDIMENTARY ROCKS LESS THAN 5* . ULTRAMAFIC INTRUSIVE PERIDOTITE AND POSSIBLE FLOWS COMPRISE ABOUT 10?? OF THE UNITS AND MAFIC INTRUSIVES PROBABLY LESS THAN 5%.

TWO AGES OF LATE ARCHEAN TO PROTEROZOIC DIABASE DIKES CUT ALL OLDER ROCK UNITS. THE NORTH TRENDING DIABASE DIKES ARE OLDER THAN THE NORTHEAST TRENDING DIKES. A THICK MANTLE OF PLEISTOCENE TILL, CLAY, LAKE BOTTOM DEPOSITS AND OUTWASH, COVERS OUTCROP IN THE AREA. ONLY A RELATIVELY THIN ORGANIC LAYER COVERS MOST OF THE AREA WITH THICKER DEPOSITS OCCURRING IN THE SWAMPY PORTIONS."

IN 1984 THE OGS UNDERTOOK AN INPUT AND AEM SURVEY OVER 40 TOWNSHIPS INCLUDING WILKIE TOWNSHIP.

FROM OGS 1999 MAP 3367 (fig 4) THE PROPERTY IS FAULT BOUNDED BY THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE DESTOR-PORCUPINE FAULT ZONE. TO THE SOUTH OF THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE D-PFZ, ARE FOUND ROCKS OF THE KIDD-MUNRO ASSEMBLLAGE COMPRISED OF ULTRAMAFIC AND MAFIC VOLCANICS (KOMATIITES).

TO THE NORTH OF THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE D-PFZ, ARE FOUND ROCKS OF THE DUFF-COULSON-RAND ASSEMBLAGE CONSISTING OF 3 DISTINCT ROCK TYPES: RAND UNIT OF SOUTH FACING CALC-ALKALIC ANDESITE, DACITE, RHYOLITE TUFF AND TUFF BRECCIA; COULSON UNIT OF WELL BEDDED, STEEPLY DIPPING, EAST STIKING CLASTIC METASEDIMENTS; DUFF UNIT CONSISTING OF NW STRIKING, SOUTH FACING FELSIC METAVOLCANIC ROCKS.

SEVERAL AEM ANOMALIES EXIST ON AND AROUND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PROPERTY.

SURVEY PROCEDURE AND THEORY

ELECTROMAGNETIC SURVEY

THE "RADEM" UNIT IS ESSENTIALLY A SPECIALLY DESIGNED RADIO RECEIVER WHICH UTILIZES VERY LOW FREQUENCY (VLF) RADIO SIGNALS BROADCAST BY TRANSMITTERS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

THE RECEIVING UNIT IS USED TO MEASURE THE DIRECTION OF THE MAGNETIC COMPONENT OF THE TRANSMITTED FIELD. THE NORMAL VLF FIELD IS HORIZONTAL BUT BECOMES DISTORTED IN THE PRESENCE OF A CONDUCTIVE BODY. THE PRESENCE AND POSITION CAN THEREFORE BE DETERMINED BY MEASURING THE DIP ANGLE OF THE RESULTANT FIELD AT REGULAR INTERVALS.

THE DIP ANGLE IS READ BY ALIGNING THE INTRUMENT INTO A POSITION PARALLEL TO THE FIELD DIRECTION IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION THEN RAISING IT INTO A VERTICAL POSITION AND ROTATING ABOUT A VERTICAL AXIS UNTIL A RADIO NULL IS HEARD. THE DIP ANGLE IS THEN RECORDED AS IS THE DIRECTION IN WHICH THE ARROW POINTS. THE BASE STATION SET UP WHEN THE SURVEY WAS INITIATED MUST BE REVISITED FROM TIME TO TIME IN THE COURSE OF THE SURVEY IN ORDER TO DETECT ANY DIURNAL DRIFTING IN THE HORIZONTAL FIELD STRENGTH SIMILAR TO A MAGNETIC SURVEY.

MAGNETOMETER SURVEY

THE MAGNETIC METHOD IS BASED ON MEASURING ALTETRATION IN THE SHAPE AND MAGNITUDE OF THE EARTH'S NATURALLY OCURRING MAGNETIC FIELD CAUSED BY CHANGES IN THE MAGNETISM OF THE ROCKS OF THE EARTH.

THESE CHANGES IN MAGNETISM ARE DUE MAINLY TO THE PRESENCE OF THE MAGNETIC MINERALS, OF WHICH THE MOST COMMON IS MAGNETITE, AND TO A LESSER EXTENT, ILMENITE, AND SOME LESS COMMON MINERALS.

THE MAGNETICS DATA WERE COLLECTED WITH A PROTON PRECESSION MAGNETOMETER, WHICH MEASURES THE ABSOLUTE VALUE OF THE TOTAL MAGNETIC FIELD OF THE EARTH WITH AN ACCURACY OF + OR MINUS In TESLA. THE MAGNETOMETER IS CARRIED DOWN THE SURVEY LINE BY A SINGLE OPERATOR, WITH THE SENSOR MOUNTED ON A SHORT POLE TO REMOVE IT FROM THE SURFACE GEOLOGICAL NOISE. READINGS ARE NORMALLY TAKEN AT 25m INTERVALS, AND AT 12.5m INTERVALS WHERE THE OPERATOR OBSERVES A HIGH GRADIENT (ANOMALY).

THE READINGS ARE CORRECTED FOR CHANGES IN THE EARTH'S TOTAL FIELD (DIURNAL DRIFT) BY MEASURING AND RECORDING THE DRIFT WITH A BASE STATION.

INTERPRETATION

GEOLOGY AND PROSPECTING

MAPPING AND PROSPECTING WITH A REBAR PROBE FOR NEAR SURFACE OUTCROP OR BOULDERS WERE CONDUCTED AFTER THE MAGNETIC AND VLF SURVEYS WERE COMPLETED.THE SEARCH FOR NEAR SURFACE EVIDENCE WAS CONDUCTED MAINLY IN THE SOUTHWEST PART OF THE PROPERTY, THIS QUADRANT BEING THE LOCATION OF THE INTERPRETED CONTACT (fig 4) OF THE KIDD-MUNROASSEMBLAGE AND THE DUFF-COULSON-RAND ASSEMBLAGE. THE REST OF THE PROPERTY WAS MAPPED FOR VEGETATION AND WATER SOURCES AND AVAILABLE ACCESS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. UNFORTUNATELY NO OUTCROPS OR BOULDERS WERE LOCATED. A GEOLOGICAL AND PROSPECTING MAP CAN BE FOUND IN THE BACK POCKET OF THIS REPORT (fig 9).

MAGNETOMETER SURVEY

A PROTON MAGNETOMETER SURVEY WAS COMPLETED OVER THE ENTIRE PROPERTY WHICH SUCCESSFULLY DELINEATED THE CONTACT BETWEEN THE KIDD-MUNRO AND DUFF-COULSON-RAND ASSEMBLAGES (fig 4) . SEVERAL MAG HIGHS ARE NOTED IN THE K-M ASSEMBLAGE AS WELL AS THE PROPER LOCATING OF TWO DIABASE INTRUSIONS AS NOTED ON THE OGS MAP P3367. THE D-R ASSEMBLAGE SHOWS UP AS A MAG LOW TO THE NORTH OF THE INTERPRETED FAULT BOUNDED K-M ASSEMBLAGE (fig 4). A CONTOURED MAG MAP CAN BE FOUND IN THE BACK POCKET OF THIS REPORT.

VLF SURVEY

NUMEROUS WEAK, SUBTLE ANOMALIES WERE FOUND USING THE FRASER FILTER SYSTEM OF INTERPRETING. THESE ANOMALIES ARE NUMBERED A TO H IN figs 7-8 LOCATED IN THE BACK POCKET OF THIS REPORT.
