Thank you for buying the amazing PocketVJ!

Before you power up the device with the provided power supply, make sure that:

- SD-Card is inserted- Wifi dongle is plugged in- HDMI cable/adaptor is connected- Screen, Tv or Projector is powered on*

Now you can plugin the powercord and wait until the device has booted and the testvideo is running.

*since the PocketVJ is gathering the perfect resolution for the connected screen while booting, its important that the connected screen is powered up, otherwise you will get a standard VGA resolution (there is the possibility to change the standard resolution)

MAG Design PocketVJ Loading Files with Webbrowser

1. Make sure your PocketVJ is running with the WiFi dongle plugged in.

2. On your Win Computer, choose the WiFi connection of your PocketVJ (its named vj113, or vj109, or vj***)

3. Enter the Password for the WiFi connection (you should have it, if not, ask us)

4. Open your favourite Webbrowser (we recommend Chrome) and enter:

2.0.0.*** (replace the *** with the number of your PocketVJ WiFi name) into the address bar.

5. Hit Enter and you should see an Extplorer window where you can upload, download, rename and organize your h.264 compressed movie files. When you upload a file make sure that you wait until Extplorer tells you ‘Success, Upload successful’.

6. Reboot your PocketVJ.

7. Your movie should be playing!

MAG Design PocketVJ Loading Files with FileZilla® (ssh)

1. Make sure your PocketVJ is running with the WiFi dongle plugged in.

2. On your Win Computer, choose the WiFi connection of your PocketVJ (its named vj113, or vj109, or vj***)

3. Enter the Password for the WiFi connection (you should have it, if not, ask us)

4. Open Filezilla, under Server enter the IP: 2.0.0.*** (replace the *** with the number of your PocketVJ WiFi name), Username: pi, Password: ******** (you should have it, otherwise ask us!)

5. Hit Enter and you should be able to navigate to the media folder in which all the movies must be stored

6. Reboot your PocketVJ

7. Your movie should start playing

MAG Design PocketVJ Loading Files with Bootice (this is an experimental method and may harm the PocketVJ!)

1. Trennen Sie den Strom vom PocketVJ, entfernen Sie die SD-Karte und schliessen Sie diese an Ihrem Windows Rechner an.2. Windows Explorer fragt Sie nun ob Sie die Inhalte der SD-Karte anzeigen möchten, bestätigen Sie dieses durch Doppelklicken.

3. Wählen Sie nun die Datei `BOOTICE.EXE` mit einem Doppelklick.

4. Ein Programmfenster erscheint. Kontrollieren Sie das unter Destination Disk die SD-Karte ausgewählt ist: KingstonFCR 14.8 GB

5. Drücken Sie die Parts Manage Taste. Ein neues Fenster erscheint.

6. Markieren Sie die Zeile mit der Bezeichnung MEDIA und drücken Sie Assign Drive Letter.

7. Die MEDIA Partition ist nun im System gemounted! Belassen Sie das Partitions Management Fenster unbedingt geöffnet!

8. Öffnen Sie den Explorer und kopieren/löschen/editieren Sie die Videofiles *.mp4 auf der MEDIA Partition. Es ist möglich mehrere Videos auf den Player zu laden, falls die Abspielreihenfolge eine Rolle spielt, benennen Sie die Dateien mit 01_***.mp4; 02_***.mp4 ...etc . oder A_***.mp4, B_***.mp4 etc..

9. Wenn Sie fertig mit editieren sind, gehen Sie zurück zum Partitions Management Fenster, markieren Sie die Zeile mit der Bezeichung BOOTLOADER und drücken Sie Assign Drive Letter. Drücken Sie CLOSE und anschliessend EXIT.

10. Entfernen Sie die SD-Karte vom Rechner und schieben Sie wieder sorgfältig in den PocketVJ und schliessen Sie den Strom an. Das Gerät sollte booten und die Videos wieder in einer Endlosschleife abspielen.

MAG Design PocketVJ Convert movies to h264.mp4 with winFF

WinFF

Laden Sie das Opensource Tool WinFF von der Website www.winff.org herunter und installieren Sie dies auf Ihrem Windows Rechner.

Nach erfolgreicher Installation können Sie das Programm öffnen:

1. Wählen Sie unter Konvertieren MPEG-4 und unter Profil MPEG-4 H.2642. Setzen Sie unter 'Ordner wie Quelldatei' das Häkchen (damit die Datei am selben Ort wie die Quelldatei erstellt wird)3. Ziehen Sie Ihr Video mit der Maus auf das WinFF Programmfenster4. Drücken Sie Konvertieren (ein Terminal erscheint und zeigt den konvertierungsprozess an)5. Die fertige Videodatei sollte nun mit der Endung *.mp4 im gleichen Ordner wie die Quelldatei zu finden sein, falls dies nicht der Fall ist, speichert winFF die Datei im Benutzerverzeichnis unter Dokumente.6. Nun haben Sie ein H.264 .mp4 zum uploaden auf den Yokto Player!

Laden Sie das Opensource Tool FFmpegYAG von der Website http://code.google.com/p/ffmpegyag/ herunter und entpacken Sie das .zip File auf ihren Computer.

Doppelklicken Sie die Datei ffmpegYAG.exe und ein Programmfenster öffnet sich.

1. Klicken Sie Add Files.. um Ihre Videodatei hinzuzufügen2. Falls kein Audio benötigt wird können Sie unter Audio Processing das Include abhäkeln3. Subtitle Processing können Sie ebenfalls abhäkeln4. Unter Video Processing wählen Sie für Container: mp4, Codec: libx264, Bitrate: 3000k5. Klicken Sie Encode und warten bis Ihr .mp4 Video erstellet wurde6. Laden Sie die Datei auf Ihren Yokto

1. Go to http://www.vimeo.com, if not already registered, register and upload your movie.

2. After your movie is processed and online, hit the Download button, save it to your computer.

3. You have a perfectly converted h264 movie for the PocketVJ.

MAG Design PocketVJ Troubleshooting

Movie is not playing********************Movie file is not playing:

Make sure SD card is inserted and power connectedMake sure that there is no space or special character in the filename and it is not longer than 16 characters.Make sure your video is converted with the h264 codec.

Try to reboot Reboot your Pocket VJ

In Sync Mode (sync over RJ45)*****************************- How to set a Master to Slave:Connect to your PocketVJ via Terminal and change in /etc/rc.local for Master: /usr/bin/omxplayer-sync -mu /media/* &for Slave: /usr/bin/omxplayer-sync -lu /media/* &

- When slave is trying to sync, it jumps in steps of 20s or more:Change to GOP (i-frames) size of your encoder

The Pocketvj is programmed to seek in 1s steps, but some encoders eg. FFmpegX GOP sizes are 30s and more.To compensate the Sync time, make the first 10s of your movie Black!

- Connected several Pocketvj over a routerCheck the Gateway settings! eg: 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.100 or 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.100

sdtv_mode defines the TV standard for composite output (default=0)

sdtv_aspect defines the aspect ratio for composite output (default=1)
