Christian Theology:
The Christian belief is centred around the love of Christ. It is the love of Jesus Christ for humanity and humility, and love for Christ and people is natural. Christians are bound together through their mutual love.
God’s love for the people/world is manifested through his begotten son Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son”.
Jesus said, “As I have loved you, that you also love one another”, John 13:34. It is the change brought in by Jesus through love that transforms our life.
In practice, as per I John 3:16, “We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us”
stIn the 1 Epistle to the Corinthians, Paul writes to the Church, “abide in faith, hope and love. and the greatest of these is love”.
Christmas is Season of Love. It is the time to share love.
Every year we celebrate Christmas. This year, let us give sweets and cakes
to our neighbours and share love.
Dr.Vincent George
When Pharisees, the chief religious sect of that day, asked Jesus about the greatest commandment, He replied, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” – Matthew 22:37; “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” – Matthew 22:39.
YMCA Movement:
Through YMCA, we as Christians, express our love through various community related activities and progammes. In YMCA we address the whole person, his body, mind and spirit, which is reflected in the YMCA triangle logo. The main principle of the Paris Basis is to unite Christian young men and pool their efforts for His Kingdom among young men. The Kampala Principles, emphasises “sharing the good news of Jesus Christ”.
Christmas is the time and opportunity to share with neighbours and downtrodden, and it is the means of experiencing love. This would enhance spiritual development.
By the Grace of God, we at Madras YMCA, are able to serve people through various activities and programmes. Some of these need establishing new infrastructure; renovation and redevelopment of existing infrastructure to suit the current and changing needs. This process will continue in the next year also. Please pray for all the projects that we are involved. The Madras Young Men, Christmas and New Year issue presents a view of the activities.
I thank the Board Members, the General Secretary, Secretaries and staff for supporting the activities and programmes. It is an opportunity for us to serve people through YMCA.
Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
President - YMCA Madras
A few words about love and Christianity, and YMCA Movement.

I have great pleasure in releasing the Christmas and New Year issue of Madras Young Men. The fundamental principles welded into the body politic of the YMCA are:
1. It should be the work of young men for young men.2. Its privilege should be accorded to all young men, without distinction of any kind.3. Its aim should be to meet the needs of the whole man –ministering to the intellectual, social, physical and
spiritual wants of the people.
YMCA was founded by Sir George Williams in London in 1844. The Young Men’s Christian Association in Madras, beginning in 1890 has crossed a milestone of 127 years.
The main principle of the Paris Basis is to unite Christian young men who regard Jesus Christ as their God and Saviour according to Holy Scriptures and associate their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom among young men. The Kampala Principles, reiterates “ Christ is the centre of the Movement”.
The purpose of the YMCA is the making of the perfect man, suggested by the YMCA emblem, the equilateral red triangle with its apex down, who shall have the muscle of an athlete, the mind of a scholar, the manners of a gentleman and the pure loving heart of a Saint.
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart
Blessed Christmas and Greetings of the Season
- Psalm 37:4
Mr. P. Asir PandianGeneral Secretary - YMCA Madras
