You’ll experience a learning environment where you will be asked to connect what you learn, what you believe and what you do.

Our average class size of 15 students and direct instruction from professors – not teaching assistants – gives you the opportunity to deeply engage in your academic experiences. Nursing student Kaitlyn Hartlieb, ‘15, reflects, “my professors supported and encouraged me when I had the opportunity to add work to my very first patient assessment project. Based on her Parkinson’s diagnosis, I was challenged to create a meaningful and valuable wellness plan that was tailored to my patient’s needs and abilities.”

You will also find our classroom doors extend far beyond our 55-acre campus. For Olivier Bentho, ‘15, the best academic experience has been studying abroad in France. “I highly encourage and recommend all incoming freshmen to seriously consider studying abroad during their time at Edgewood College because it opens your eyes to different parts of the world, different cultures, gives you different perspectives on life and could be truly life-changing.”

Julia McAndrews, ‘16, was excited to learn more about the field of Child Life as soon as she arrived at Edgewood College. Participating in groups like the Child Life Association and Dominican Life allowed her to develop a great support network, have fun, and make new friends. “I will always remember how much my professors have advocated for my education and success. It is amazing to know that each professor I have had cares about my life beyond Edgewood and wants the best for me after I graduate.”

HOW WILL YOU IDENTIFY THE NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES

of the world?

As an Edgewood College student you will develop leadership skills both in and out of the classroom. Business Management and Finance student Brady Storhoff, ‘15, has worked as an intern for the Edgewood College Bonner Leaders Program, has served as an Edgewood College Ambassador, and has been president of Edgewood College Rotaract. “I have had the opportunity

to deal first hand with real issues of Madison and the surrounding communities, involving poverty, pollution and

financial literacy. By being involved in everything, it has allowed me to take the lessons I have learned in the classroom and bring

them to the real world.”

Edgewood College Eagle student-athletes develop character on and off the field, court and course.

Ben Pratscher, ‘16, tennis player and Chemistry major, joined the staff of the Appalachia Service Project. Ben renovated sub-standard housing for low-income families in Tennessee. He put his physical strength and team leadership skills to great use changing lives for people who needed a clean, dry and

safe place to live.

Elementary education major, Stephanie Wilkins, ‘14, found ways to directly link service work and academic interests. Stephanie strengthened her mentoring and leadership skills in her roles as a Commuter Assistant and Orientation Assistant for the Office of Student Activities. By serving as a mentor to local ninth grade students in the Committed to College Program, Stephanie built a professional network and gained practical experience in a classroom-setting.

The intimate campus atmosphere at Edgewood College appealed to Art Therapy major Nellie Holmes, ‘14, because it helped her make valuable connections with faculty, staff and classmates. “That ideal college experience you have pictured in your head? Edgewood can be that experience for you if you’re willing to make it happen!”

Once you discover your passion, we’ll help you become the person you want to be. Diego Lema Hernández, ‘14, found that, despite its small size, Edgewood College has a lot to offer students, regardless of their chosen major. “The best part of my experience at Edgewood is how easy it is to feel accepted with both your peers and all the staff. You’re known by your name, not by a number. You can easily get involved in many clubs and groups, everyone is open to meeting new people.”

Nursing alum Anna Allbaugh, ‘14, credits the Edgewood College curriculum, rooted in the Dominican tradition, for preparing her to get a job and for helping her make a real difference in the world. “Edgewood College has done an excellent job preparing me for my nursing career by providing me with the knowledge I need to make educated, quick decisions on the floor, as well as providing me with a background in Dominican values that I incorporate into my nursing practice by providing just and compassionate care to my patients.”

Individualized learning, research opportunities, and supportive faculty and advisors have prepared students for entrance into competitive graduate and professional schools in a variety of fields all over the country. Jake Zadra, ‘13, who majored in History with minors in Biology and Chemistry, was admitted into the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health for Fall ‘14, where he will study to become a doctor. “Coming to Edgewood College your options are endless. You’re going to get a fantastic education that will benefit you no matter what field you choose to go into.”

How will you contribute to creating a just and compassionate world?

Edgewood College graduates are transformed by their educational experience. You will be well-prepared for finding a job in your field, committing to a year of service, or attending graduate or professional school.

An Edgewood College education will help you to develop the high level critical thinking and problem solving skills and global awareness that today’s employers are seeking. Elizabeth Kunz, who will be graduating in January ‘15 with a degree in Child Life, is completing her internship in California. She has had numerous practicums, internships, and job opportunities available to her, thanks to the reputation of the Edgewood College Child Life program. “As a student from Edgewood’s Child Life program, I have had many offers to participate in opportunities both near and far from Madison. I am able to apply for highly competitive positions in Child Life programs across the country and often place as a front runner.”

Edgewood College professors are committed to your success. Zack Wachowiak, ‘12, graduated with a degree in Accounting from Edgewood College and is now a financial analyst at Wells Fargo. He credits the small class sizes at Edgewood College with creating an ideal learning environment. “The extra classroom attention allowed me to better understand the coursework, which prepared me well for a career in finance. Additionally, the Liberal Arts focus at Edgewood College allowed me to gain expertise in other subjects besides my major area of study. These additional courses helped me with my problem-solving abilities and made me a more well-rounded candidate for employment upon graduation.”
