FROM OUR PTO PRESIDENT

Wow! It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving has past and Christmas is

rapidly approaching! I hope you all had a wonderful break from

routines and were able to reflect and give thanks!

It’s also hard to believe the first semester is almost over and we

will be halfway done with the school year. It has been busy but

extremely rewarding. Thank you to all the PTO committees who

have spent countless hours to make it a success!

December is always filled with lots of activities, but it is such a fun

and exciting time! It’s always such a treat for the children to come

back from Thanksgiving break and see all the wonderful Christmas

decorations. The staff and administration go so far above and

beyond to give our children a wonderful experience.

Classroom Christmas parties are a highlight of the month. They

will be held on Thursday, December 20. I hope you will all try to

attend. It is such a joyful day! I hope you all have a safe and Merry

Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year!

FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

I hope you all enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving with those you love.

With only 16 days before we end this semester, teachers are busy

with semester evaluations, introduction of new standards, and fun

holiday activities. We welcome you to come enjoy the fun and

holiday excitement in our building in the coming weeks.

Thank you to our room moms for working so hard to plan

Christmas parties and arrange for our classes to be covered so our

teachers can enjoy a wonderful Christmas lunch provided by our

PTO. We are so thankful for all of our parent volunteers.

Wishing you and your families a wonderful holiday season filled

with joy. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us each

day.

Each month, we will share with you information related to each goal:

Madison Station’s 3 Major Goals!

Goal 1: Academic Excellence (focusing on a child’s mind)

We are approaching the end of our first semester in this school year. Teachers are busy introducing new standards and measuring mastery of standards that have been taught. A major component in our assessment model in Madison County is Benchmark Assessment (BMA). Using the benchmark assessment, each student’s reading level is individually assessed to determine if a student is on track for this time of year. In kindergarten, a child should be reading on a level A; 1st grade level G; 2nd grade level K; 3rd grade level O; 4th grade level Q; and 5th grade level U. Report cards will be sent home on January 10. Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns. Remember, the best way to become a more fluent reader is simply to read.

Goal 2: Arts Integration (focusing on a child’s heart/soul)

This year at MSE we have been focused on being a friend to all. Our Christmas display this year is representative of a warm, rustic cottage. The type of place one would like to gather with friends and enjoy a few minutes of old-fashioned fellowship. Each student in our school created an ornament this year and hung it on one of our many trees. Please come by and see the beautiful foyer.

Goal 3: Fitness and Wellness (focusing on a child’s body)

In physical education we are participating in the Get Ready to Run School Program. The program introduces students to the benefits of running, physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices in a fun and rewarding way! Our goals are to assist K-5th graders in building endurance, setting and accomplishing long-term fitness goals and enhancing their self-esteem while teaching valuable lessons about making health and fitness a regular part of their lives. Eligible students from participating schools will also have the opportunity to run the Get Ready to Run Kids’ One-Mile Fun Run at no cost! Sign up today at www.getreadytorunms.com.

Goal 4: Building Strong Character (focusing on a child’s character)

During the holiday season, it is especially important to remind our students of the importance of demonstrating courage, respect and compassion through their actions. We know that early childhood experiences can strongly impact who we become. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to link arms with you in developing positive character traits during these early, impressionable years.

The TA committee wrapped and delivered Fresh Market bread loaves for the Thanksgiving holiday. The

teachers and staff were able to choose from 4 delicious flavors! Thank you for your monetary donations

for October and November! It allows us to treat our teachers and staff often and they so deserve it.

On Wednesday, December 5, we will have a sit down luncheon of traditional holiday fare catered by

Bless This Food. We will need lots of help to make this happen so be on the lookout for a signup soon. If
