Portraiture
• I chose Madame Yevonde as my artist because I love the way that she pioneered colour and female photography.
• I also like that she used mythology in her images as I have a personal interest in Greek Mythology.

Madame Yevonde
Yevonde was a highly skilled English photographer she worked in the 1930’s, she was a pioneer as one of the first female photographers.
Yevonde would take photo portraits of women dressed as various ancient heroines, principally goddesses
Yevonde was also a pioneer in colour photographyThe images shown in this PowerPoint are from her Goddesses

• The image shows a women with a yellow floral headband.
• The main focal point of the image is very clear as the woman’s skin is pale and the background is black really making her stand out.
• This is my favourite image of hers because it’s delicate but strong, the expression of the woman is rather charming and more interesting then the basic portraits we are used to,
