Get Shigley and use it to supplement what you get out of MERM. What I mean by this is that if you are taking a practice exam and have to look up a topic in MERM because you haven't seen it in a long time, also read up in Shigley (or other relevant college textbooks) to get more depth. The MERM does a great job at covering a wide breadth of topics but falls short often on depth.

Solve problems and then solve more problems. More speci�cally, work on problems in areas you are de�cient in. 85-90% of study time should be dedicated to solving problems. The remaining 10-15% should be dedicated to reading/reviewing theory, tabbing references, compiling notes. etc.. Be engaged during study time. Your attention should not be divided. Do not merely look at solutions and expect that you will be able to replicate the procedure during the actual test. Remember you are being tested on your knowledge of practical engineering concepts. Put in the time, and you will pass. .

The Mechanical Engineering Reference Manuel and NCEES Reference Manuel were my biggest resources on exam day. The 6MS and NCEES practice exams were helpful on a few of the exam problems. I recommend reviewing the test problems before solving for timing purposes. I �nished each section with 15+ mins left. I would also recommend saving time to review problems with unit conversions .... noticed and corrected a few errors.
