INSTRUCTION
MACC International Ltd, at the request of Nussli (Switzerland) Ltd, was required to carry out a non-intrusive magnetometer survey for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) within an area designated for the Basketball Temporary Training Venue.
SCOPE OF WORK
A 3rd party (AndArchitects) provided MACC with a drawing of the subject area with the 4 corner coordinates (see Annex A, Fig 1).

This report has been specifically prepared for Nussli (Switzerland) Ltd, without the benefit of knowing the intentions of any third parties; therefore, it should not be used by such organisations without prior consultation with MACC International Ltd.
THE SURVEY
The client initially requested that MACC confirm the coordinates of 3 known datum points adjacent to the survey area. The recorded datum coordinates were:
• E 535597.582, N 186878.840 • E 535662.160, N 186878.574 • E 535720.062, N 186884.928
Using the supplied coordinates (detailed in Annex A, Fig 1), the 4 corners of the survey area were marked using wooden stakes sprayed yellow. The survey area was then divided into a total of 9 boxes (numbered 1 to 9) for survey and data analysis (see Annex A, Fig 2 for sketched box layout and Fig 3 for post survey representation of total area).
The results of the non-intrusive survey indicate a very large amount of ferrous contamination right across the survey area.

4.1 The anomaly map shows a ferromagnetic object denoting its positive and negative poles.

5 FINDINGS
5.1 The gross level of ferrous contamination is consistent across the site and renders the data unworkable.
6 RECOMMENDATIONS
6.1 Because the data is unworkable, items of UXO cannot be discerned from the background clutter. Therefore it is recommended that all intrusive works are supervised by a suitably qualified Explosive Ordnance (EO) Engineer. His responsibilities would include:
• The provision of EO Awareness Briefings (toolbox) to all ground workers.
• Supervision (Watch & Brief) of all excavations to positively identify any suspicious objects thus minimising down time for false alarms.
• The orchestration of the safe disposal of a positively identified item of UXO (via the Police and Military).
