Congratulations to the Macarthur Cricket Club
Inc. A Grade Side on obtaining the silverware in the
One Day Grand Final which was played on Australia
Day. The boys did an outstanding job in keeping
Grampians at bay to come away with the win. Well
done to all!
By the time you read this, the Women’s Team
would have played in both the Semi’s and the Grand
Final and the U16 side would have played their
Semi’s. An update will be in the next newsletter as to
how these sides went. This year has been an exciting
year with both the Women’s Team and the U16 Team
being in the competition for the first time, so for them
to reach the Semi Finals let alone the Finals is a credit
to all that have been involved.
The U16 Grand Final will be played on the weekend
of the 5th and 6th of March. At time of print, venues
were unavailable to us. The A Grade Semi Finals
will be held on the weekend of the 5th and 6th also
(venues not set at time of print) as will the C Grade
Semi’s. The Grand Final for both teams will be
played the following weekend. Congratulations and
best of luck to all that are involved.
If you require any information in regards to the
Cricket Club and Finals, please feel free to contact
Peter Nield on 0427516640.
The Club Best and Fairest Presentation night will be held Friday 1st April commencing at 7pm.
Letter to the Editor
Hello my name is Tracy Smith.
My reason for this letter is simple-
I’m a Mum, lover, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, resi-dent, neighbour, friend. I felt compelled to voice my support for Danny Green and his campaign for “ONE PUNCH CAN KILL.” I’m a strong advocate that
this “Cowards Punch” a pathetic, gutless act that causes lifelong devastation for families, should not be TOLERATED. Anger, testosterone, peer pres-sure, or a horrifying decision has no place in society or our home Macarthur. Educating our children, by talking openly and honestly with them that this blow can KILL, also we as responsible adults should look out for one another. After all LIFE is precious, sacred, beautiful and we only have one.

Macarthur: Stories of Sacrifice
Macarthur RSL sub branch has been working on a
project for the past 12 months that aims to tell the stories
of some of the soldiers and nurses who left this commu-
nity and its surrounds to serve in the Australian Imperial
Force (AIF) in the 1914 - 1918 war. The project has
been made possible through the RSL receiving a
ANZAC Centenary Community Grant made possible by
the Victorian state government and Victorian Veterans'
Council.
With the grant the RSL has produced a short film as
well as a book. In addition to the stories, the film and
book also provide interesting information on what was
happening in the town during this time.
The launch is to be held at the Macarthur Primary
School on March 10 commencing at 6pm. A draft of the
book will also be available for viewing. The book will be
completed before Anzac day. The RSL is still seeking
stories for the book so if people would like to tell the
story of a local who went to the war then please contact
David Spring (President 5576 4217 or Maryanne Martin
(project coordinator 0457 828 556).
All most welcome at the film launch.

The 2016 Competition season is nearly at a close. Our season has been successful on the court and around the club. Our two teams will be in the finals – White team are in the top grade and the Green team are in the second grade. A BIG THANKYOU to all our fill in players, (especially our permanent fill in- you know who you are) without you all we would not be able to fill two sides each week, with injuries and unavailability al-ways on the cards. I hope you have enjoyed playing with our club and come back next season. We have also been busy with infrastructure this year in re-surfacing Court 1. Thank you to Moyne Shire and AGL for grants received and to our club members for fundraising the huge amount of funds required. Court 1 is looking great. Good luck to both our teams in the finals and hope we come home with two grand final trophies.
