Length of Study• The M.A. with Thesis is a two-year, four-

semester program.

• M.A. Specialization Tracks (in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security; Diplomacy and Conflict Studies; or Public Policy and Administration) are one year, three-semester programs. It is possible to extend these to a fourth semester.

• An average of 80 is required to pass to the last semester.

Classes Classes are held on Monday and Tuesday (14:00-

21:00) for the Diplomacy and Conflict Studies Track. Classes are held on Thursday (14:00-21:00) and

Friday (08:30-13:30) for the Counter Terrorism and Homeland Security and for the Public Policy and Administration Tracks.

Some electives are given on Wednesday (15:45-21:00)

Summer classes are held 6.5 weeks (4 July-19 August 2010) four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 14:00-21:00 and Friday 08:30-13:30).

Types of CoursesCore courses: all courses are mandatory

Basic courses: students choose 3 or 4 (depending on the M.A. track) out of a list of basic courses.

Specialization: all courses are mandatory

Electives: chosen from among all of the courses offered in the M.A. Program in Government and all M.A.-level courses of the IDC (subject to prerequisites).

Final project: exam or extended paper in one of the Government courses.

In addition, selected workshops, internships, and other activities may be taken for credit as electives.

• Other reading materials – have been uploaded to the course websites, available until the end of each semester.

• A session regarding Library services will be held today at 11:30.

Exemptions from courses

• There is no waiver of M.A. courses for a similar course taken at the B.A. level.

• Transfer students may receive credits and

exemptions for M.A. level courses taken elsewhere (within the last 5 years). Forms are available and such requests will be reviewed by the Head of the M.A. Program.

Pre-requisites

• The pre-requisite courses in English and Hebrew are offered throughout the year. Please make sure that you have registered for those courses if you have been instructed to do so in your acceptance letter.

• The pre-requisite course in Research Methods must be completed by the end of the first semester.

• There is an additional payment for pre-requisites, with reduced tuition (50%) for the third and fourth pre-requisite course.

ID Cards will be issued on Sunday, 3 October and Tuesday 5 October 2010, between 16:00 – 18:00 on the IDC campus (Library building – the exact room number will be posted at the entrance to the building).
