London Fashion week organised by the British Fashion Council is a clothing trade show held in London twice a year. It cur-rently ranks alongside Paris, New York and Milan as one of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks. The first London Fashion Week took place in 1984.

Trend HunteruniquE styLE stood out at London Fashion Week. London is well known as a city where individual style is what solidifies trends. It was a challenge to spot what was ‘in’ right now as each person I photographed was clearly determined to not prescribe to a specific style. One key thing is that no one turns up to Somerset House to be wallflower; everyone is keen (or in the ones of one blogger-desperate!) to be photographed and to be THE person who knows what’s right to wear right now. One thing I definitely noticed was a lot of

black, but who wants to photograph black clothing? Therefore my eyes were drawn to individuals who had made a special effort to bring together looks that were sometimes clashing, sometimes matching and at times a little weird!

i spottEd more casual footwear this season. It appears that getting rid of heels has been greeted with a breath of fresh air. Dresses and skirts were often paired with trainers, flat loafers, boots and sandals which meant for fashion goers on those treacherous Somerset House pebbles, a limited chance of falling flat on their faces in front of all the cameras. (However, I did spot one unfortunate tumble. Luckily there were no photographers present, and she quickly stood, readjusted her dark glasses and strutted down the walkway gracefully.). As the audience queued for the Simone Rocha show, I noticed (more) black but also the last whispers of summer tribal prints and hot neon colours. As autumn draws in, we will be saying goodbye to tropical prints and welcoming more subdued florals and tartans. Fashionista’s at LFW successfully created outfits which brought together the old and new often wearing bright and bold printed tops and kaftans with darker trousers and skirts. Clothing was also unstructured, loose and flowing. Very few people wore clothing that prescribed to a certain shape or fit thus people moved comfortably and freely. It certainly created a more relaxed feel to the day but again this could be due to the feeling that London doesn’t force trends- it creates them.

Coco Chanel said’ La mode se démode, le style jamais’

sEVERaL yEaRs ago, androgynous models became a storm in the fashion industry. As a result, nowadays, it is hard to tell if it is a man or women wearing the garment. And this time I found a pretty attractive androgynous man during fashion week. The man wore an apricot feminine cut suit and matched it with the same color high heels and bag. Wear-ing a bright red necklace did not make him shine so that he looked weird. Instead, the necklace illuminated his whole dressing.

BEsidEs, thE white veil not only give us a sense of mystery about him but it also made his bright clothing reach a comfortable balance while matching with a white shirt. The apricot suit brightened up his chocolate milk skin as well. What’s more, such a color lighted up the whole fashion week where attendants usually dress up in dark colours.

#MENSWEAR

Fashion doEs not care about age. It quickly attracted people’s attention when this old gentleman showing up. First is his age. His age definitely caught everyone’s eye especially dressing up so fashionably. He was very bold to match up green and red that would be very easy to be like a Christmas tree, however, he was not. He wore white suit with emerald green shirt. What his dressing up did was make this kind of serious dressing become so naughty. He put his collar outside rather than the regular place, and that led his shirt to be much more notable. In addition, he wore shorts and sport shoes instead of trousers and leather shoes. He used red earphones and footwear to make his dressing pretty cool and more interesting. What’s interesting, the grandfather wore a pair of funny and cute socks that had a beauty on them. What brave dressing that no one else could do. Moreover, he made his transportation his accessory.

thERE wERE many fashionable and cool people surrounding fashion showcases, however, both of these men are so different and caught my eyes easily. Fashion is not someone judging your dressing or telling you what to wear. For me, fashion is your own your special style that you show to everyone.

London Fashion Week is an event that attracts a global audience of various different cultures and preferences, with no reason for attending the same as the next. It showcases designers’ pieces which speak to the rebellious, classic, and young at heart. This was reflected in the broad spectrum of styles and cultures present in the Somerset House crowd. I decided to ask these passionate souls a few questions about their Fashion Week experiences. The answers resulted in clear crowd favourites, sensational trend sightings, and an array of reasons as to why London Fashion Week’s buzzing atmosphere will continue to be popular for years to come.

on nuMERous occasions the response to my ques-tion regarding a favourite designer, or the designer that you were waiting to see was, “Nasirmazhar,” an obvious crowd pleaser for his rebellious fashion risk. Alongside the designer in popularity was Katy Z, a designer described by London fashion blogger Chiddy or The Slum Flower as, “A rule-breaker. She keeps within boundaries, whilst still breaking rules.” Her fashion forward fans, much like Nasirmazhar also admire her risk-taking ability and distinctive style.

London Fashion Week make-up artist, Amanda, for Illamaqua shared the upcoming fashion season’s make-up trends and her take on the emerging trends present in both apparel and accessories. She stressed

the importance of soft focused foundation or bare skin against a bold eyeliner and daring lip colour. Within the shows that she had managed to see her eyes were attracted to three-dimensional shapes and floral printed clothing, but within London streets, and Fashion Week audiences (much like many other fashion admirers) she noticed the appearance of large pieces of jewellery especially oversized earrings.

howEVER, thERE are some that prefer to ignore the trends all together when dressing for the star-stud-ded occasion. Cho, a sightseer from South Korea, was nothing short of a gentlemen when it came to his suited appearance. He insisted that he was only in the Somerset House courtyard to observe the fash-ionable atmosphere, but before visiting London he had been an admirer of the fast-paced city for many years at a distance. He was much inspired by the old, traditional feel of the cobblestone city. He described his style as “classic” as it consisted of a checked pat-tern and infamous European brands such as River Island, and Zara.

aLthough thERE were many that came to observe the spectacle from far and wide, the crowds create a platform for much more. Aside from established invited bloggers, there are those who still wish to create a name for themselves in the world. A fashion

photographer, known on social media as @Blauchiano, snapped fashion risk-takers earnestly as they passed by. He was using the crowd of people to attract a larger audience on social media and to build a portfolio for himself. He had been there every day of the week. Another hard at work was Lydia, a promoter from London. She was a lover of art who had come to share her passion with others in hopes that they’d come to her event the following week which was said to showcase works of art and discuss femininity and the modern woman’s role in society. Although many faces in the crowd did consist vibrantly painted colours camera ready for their fifteen minutes of fames, there were a few that had hopes for a bit more. Some promoting a fresh fashion brand of their own, others were simply trying to create a fan base to support their efforts. Furthermore, this eclectic throng of people will continue to be drawn to the event for the variety of inspiration that it provides.

shEER dEsigns showed in this collection. See-through material is getting standard items in spring and summer, but it is a noticeable fabric even next season. I imagine it is sexy whenever the sheer fabric, however, in TATA NAKA’s collection it completely looks pop. Bright flower motifs are putting on the polka dot sheer dress. Dots makes this dress cute and pop image.

wE CouLd see a lot of sheer fab-rics in BUBERRY’s collection. I think sheer skirts are easy to adopt for daily coordinates. Denim jacket is also given attention in BUBERRY’s range.

ChRistophER kanE has recently launched his handbag line and it is growing, so it can be said that it was natural that he showed his next col-lection of leather products.

J.w. andERson’s leather hats were memorable. Leather is one of the more common fabrics for fashion like bags, jackets and pants. However, oversized leather sun hats attracted people’s attention. This collection was constructed of simple colors on the whole and it is a sophisticated image.

shiMMERing iRidEsCEnt fabrics catch the eyes of every person. These metallic materials make people so gor-geous and just right for bright spring summer season. RICHARD NICOLL showed the combination of pastel color and metallic color and it could be said these colors are compatible with each other. Also this combination shows well-matched colors, not too bright. In our daily styling, it is pos-sible to give a punch to the texture by incorporating a metallic material and we can easily enjoy the senior fashion.

FRoM MEtaLLiC material and the short length it can be seen that the influence of the 90s is much larger trend now.

#STREETSTYLEFABRICS

i MEt fashion people who were wearing their own favorite dress-es and found interesting fabrics at Somerset House. Above to the left girl is a blogger. That day her outfit was settled on all white. The coat is just £10 from MUJI and actually it is a raincoat. I was surprised her original idea that matched the raincoat with shirts.

aBoVE to the right, the girl was wearing a top that was deco-rated with beads. It was a nice combination of a shining beaded top and baby blue skirt.

dREssEs that the two girlsare wearing are products of their own brand. They were worked with elaborate decoration with beads and embroidery. These dresses are made of cream wool, so it has a smooth and soft touch.

i Found already next season fabrics sheer and metallic texture in street fashion. I realized that when it was combined-with Bordeaux color, the refreshing sheer skirt looked more like autumn fashion. The garter she wore in the skirt was also very sexy.

skiRt oF metallic fabric she is wearing was seen as well in the catwalk. Metallic glitter shoes are also sold in the shop of the venue, it is a material that should be noted in spring summer ‘15. Metallic material is very conspicuous, but Silver felt like easy to match with items in the same way as gray. It will be possible to incorporate the trend easily if the metallic accessories such as shoes and bags.

BE AHEAD OF THE NEXT BIG TREND!!!
