File Classification - Definitions• File Reuse

– Unique: Files that are unique to a particular job. Never reused in other jobs.

– Static Files: Files that should not be altered. Used in multiple jobs.

• Content Center – DB Driven Standard parts• Libraries – Common Parts, iParts – Read Only• Unique Files – Located in Workgroup/Workspace

– Reusable Assemblies???

How A Project File Works• Content Center – Defined as an absolute path in an

assembly• Workspace – Location of the project workspace

depends on the type of project.– Single User: Location determined by IPJ Location . Might be local or network location– Vault : Typically ( and recommended) Local Drive Folder. ( Mapped as User Workspace)

• Libraries – Common Parts, iParts – Read Only. Defined as an absolute path in an assembly

• Workgroup – Unique Parts – Shared Assemblies– Vault does not support defined workgroups– Other project types: Workgroups are located outside the project Workspace Path.

Understanding the Resolve Dialog• Rule 1 – If you move files defined as an absolute path in an assembly, you WILL

have to resolve the new location path once. Saving the updated assembly preserves the new path information.

• Rule 2 – If you move files defined as a relative path in an assembly, you may have to resolve the new location once. Saving the updated assembly preserves the new path information.

• Rule 3 – If you see the resolve dialog again, then:– A. Your data file structure is incorrect. Your assembly file contains files

located OUTSIDE the project search path.– B: Your assembly file (iam) is located in a Library or Content Center

subfolder path, or is otherwise designated Read Only.
