3WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN - June 14, 2020

…”Brothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.” This weekend we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi – the Body and Blood of Christ. Our second reading from Paul to the Corinthians proclaims the two dimensions of our celebration. We come to the Table of the Lord to share in the Body and Blood of Christ so that we can be strengthened to be the living Body of Christ in our world. Though many, we form one loaf – one Body – in Christ. One of the favorite songs for our kids helps us understand our Feast, “In this banquet we believe, we become what we receive, building up the Body of Christ.”

…This weekend also marks out the 63rd Anniversary of our parish community which was established on June 13, 1957. For generations, so many have come together in prayer at the Table of the Lord. For generations, so many have been strengthened by the Spirit to form one Body of Christ living in the love and service of the Lord. Happy Anniversary!!!

…We celebrate our anniversary by welcoming 20 adults and 5 children into the family of God – the Church. They should have been received at the Easter Vigil. This Saturday evening we will have the blessing of Baptizing 12 of these amazing children of God. The other 13 will make a Profession of Faith. All will be Con#rmed and come to the Table of the Lord. Think about our Feast – Corpus Christi – they come to the Table and the living Body of Christ the Church grows in size and spirit. Please join me in holding them close to the Lord in prayer. Our parish community is so blessed. Their commitment and witness are a sign of the faith and goodness of our community. God is in our midst!!

…Most of the 20 adults will tell you that someone actually invited them to consider our parish and deepening their faith. Who can you invite to join us at the Table of the Lord for Easter 2021??? Special thanks to Caitlin O’Neill and Fr. Jeremy, along with the Journey to Emmaus/RCIA

team. God bless Janet Majka who leads all of our children’s teaching programs. She and her team have walked with these #ve children to the Table of the Lord.…Speaking of which, we had a great planning meeting the other day. We will be ready for Fall to bring all of us – all the children of God – together in wonderful, inspiring, safe and comfortable ways.

…And speaking of Easter, there will be Christmas this year!!! I can tell you…this past week, we ordered a wonderful new book by Matthew Kelly that will be given out at Christmas. Always forward!!!

…On this anniversary weekend, long time member and legend, Jim Lepi, and I spoke today. He and Ed Kilroy provide leadership for our funeral servers. He shared with me that we could use some ‘younger’ members to assist as we get back to taking care of our families during times of the loss of a loved one. If you can help (or at least are willing to learn more), please contact Ed at [email protected].

…Father’s day is next Sunday. A great way to celebrate Father’s Day is to invite your father, grandfather, godfather to join you for Mass. It’s a great way to ask God’s blessing on them and to a$rm the faith and family values they work to instill in your heart. You can do that virtually, or in person. What’s most important is that we hold them close to our Heavenly Father. We have a complete page of Father’s Day resources (for all ages) on our parish website. Go to: www.StAmbrose/fathers-day.

…As you know, Father Jeremy will be leaving us at the end of the month to begin his new assignment as Administrator of St. Francis de Sales in Akron. It’s home to his family. It’s the special place where he said ‘yes’ to serve the Lord. It’s been a blessed year for our community to share in his good spirit and joyful faith. He will have an opportunity to say thank you next weekend. Father Andrew Hoover will be joining us in early August. Please keep them in your prayers along with Fr. Lorkowski. He should have his health test results back this week. May God give him strength and healing peace. (BTW: Father Andrew came out this past week to visit. He’s excited to join us. He’s actually part of Fr. Jeremy’s Golf foursome!!).

…Congratulations to Lyla Wooten the winner of the Early Bird Ra%e for our Summer Festival Ra%e. She (and her husband Henry) will receive a fall clean up thanks to NEO Landscaping. Please support our summer ra#e. Proceeds will be used to repair/replace some sections of our parish parking

lot, along with trying to complete some of the liturgical items for the Chapel. We need your help and support. Next weekend we will roll out the summer festival plans. Watch for details. In the meantime, please check out all the details about the great ra%e prizes in today’s bulletin.…Work is #nishing up at Ambrose Crossing - soon to be home for Littlest Angels Preschool and all of our CYO games/sports. Check out the new playground installed by Jamie Snyder and his team this past week.

…Many of you have called and asked about the article in last week’s newspaper about the senior housing project slated for the property adjacent to SA (behind the water towers). Financing is probably a good sign that something should be happening soon. This project is being done by a private developer. I am hopeful they will be sharing information with the community soon.

…And our Catholic Works of Mercy Outreach Center is just about complete. It’s already in use and will be #nished with racking in the coming week. Praise be God.

…Did you know that Saint Ambrose Young Adults have a Facebook Page that is trying to connect our young adults with each other, along with sharing upcoming programs and opportunities to bring them together. Check it out by going to Facebook and searching Saint Ambrose Young Adults.

…It’s been wonderful to see so many of our members and groups coming together around the campus. There are lawn chair socials, lacrosse practice with masks, parking lot ice cream socials, and the Mother Teresa Patio has never gotten better use. Praise be God. All of our seniors (anyone not a kid) are invited to an Outdoor Mass at the Grotto this coming Friday, June 19 at 1:00 pm, followed by an ice cream social. Please join us.

…During this month of June, please pray an Our Father every day as a way of interceding to the Lord for a more peaceful and compassionate world.

…As we celebrate our Anniversary and this Feast of Corpus Christi, thank you so much for the many ways you build up the Body of Christ – the Church. Together God blesses every o&ering and we are a beacon of Christ’s hope to the world.

5WEEKLY PARISH BULLETIN - June 14, 2020

Senior CornerHow To Declutter Your Home, Part 5 and 6

Duplicates and Backups: Not everyone will have a lot in this category, but if you’re a “just in case” or “buy it in every color” shopper, you might have closets full of things you’ll never use. Think about the last time you used the item.

Kitchen and Dining Gear: Cookware, gadgets, dishes, co&ee mugs, pots and

pans and all things cooking related. Having more kitchen goods than you need leads to serious clutter, and having to bring them all, if you decide to move, is a bubble-wrapped nightmare. Unless the unused item is a beloved heirloom, pass it on to someone who will use it.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Stephen Ministry | it's Ok To Be Human

We are brought up to be strong, self-su$cient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. So, we try to keep our struggles hidden, stu&ed deep inside. However, that is not God’s plan. Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so ful#ll the law of Christ.” God wants us to care for others – and allow others to care for us in our time of need.

If you are sad or struggling inside, do not su&er alone. Ask for help. We have a team of Stephen Ministers who are ready to listen, care, encourage, pray, and help you through a tough time. Men are matched with men, and women with women. (It is completely con#dential too.) To #nd out more about Stephen Ministry for you or someone you know, talk to one of our Stephen Leaders: Lisa Homady at [email protected] or 330.460.7315, or Carol Maline at [email protected] or 330.460.7336.

Saint Ambrose Catholic SchoolA Note From Lisa Cinadr“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galatians 6:9

Thank you to our Saint Ambrose School and Saint Ambrose Littlest Angels Preschool families for such a STRONG #nish to the 2019-2020 school year!

We are so thankful for our school families' partnership and commitment to #nish the fourth quarter from home via virtual learning! They were actively engaged, R.E.A.C.H.ed, worked hard and never gave up! What a tremendous example of grit and resilience!

We were greatly blessed to be well prepared with technology access and resources to migrate and pivot quickly to online and virtual learning. Our Preschool-8th grade students were able to stay connected with their teachers and each other via Google meetings and relevant lessons to continue learning, achieving and #nishing the year strong! We could not have done it without our faith and the commitment and partnership of our parents.

We are also very proud of our students and joyfully share that over 180 students in 4th-8th grades received academic honors for the second semester! They earned these honors based on the grading scale we continued to use even during virtual learning. Our students' grit, determination, ability to R.E.A.C.H. and resilience have been such hopeful blessings to witness.

We truly are blessed to be a part of shaping moral and strong leaders for tomorrow here at Saint Ambrose School, a STEAM school where “Jesus Christ is EVERYTHING for us and students are challenged to reach their potential.”

We continue to make plans to be back together safely in our building this fall. If you or someone you know is looking for a highly-awarded, top-quality education centered on Jesus Christ, please contact us! [email protected]; 330.460.7318. Now Enrolling ONLINE! www.SaintAmbroseSchool.us

Sincerely in Christ,Lisa Cinadr

Marriage MomentsMarried Love

Married love is both physical and emotional. Attraction often starts with the physical and then grows as we develop emotional bonds. This week, however, why not re+ect on the body of your beloved. Whether young or old, share one physical feature that is endearing to you.

Parenting PointersThe Body and Blood of Christ

June 14 is the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. It may seem gross to a young child to think about how they came from the bodily love of their parents, but honoring one's body - +esh and blood - is an important reality to grow into. Acknowledge a physical trait of your child today.

Summer Book ClubBring Beautiful Hope to Your Life

Please join us for another Book Club! This summer, we will be joining together to discuss a new book, Beautiful Hope. For the past month a group has been meeting virtually through a Zoom meeting to discuss a book. The group had a great time chatting in a virtual world, however, we would love to have more people join us on Thursday afternoons.

For now, the group will be led virtually through Zoom by Jane Baldwin, Spiritual Life Coordinator. There is the possibility that the Zoom might also have an on campus experience. Please reach out to Jane at [email protected] and let her know

if you are interested in joining virtually or in-person. The book was handed out during a prior year, so check your personal library and see if you can #nd it. If not, let Jane know so that she can purchase a book for you. To read more, visit www.stambrose.us/book-club.

Walking With Moms In NeedSupporting Mothers in our Community

Pregnant and Parenting moms in need are in our parishes and neighborhoods. As Pope Francis reminds us, our parishes need to be “islands of mercy in the midst of the sea of indi"erence.” Everyone in our parish community should know where to refer a pregnant woman in need. The Saint Ambrose Culture of Life Committee is participating in a nationwide e&ort entitled “Walking with Moms in Need: A Year of Service.”

We are looking for parishioners interested in helping with this project. We will also be inviting all parishioners to join us through prayer and service after we determine the needs of our community. Call Trish Shaw 440.590.0083 or go to www.walkingwithmoms.com to learn more.

Men's FellowshipJoin Us in July

Men’s Fellowship resumes in July on the second and fourth Thursday of the Month at 7:00 pm. Weather permitting, we will meet at the Grotto. Bring your lawn chair, co&ee and water. Social distances will be kept along with mask wearing until the all clear is given.

I can’t wait to see you in person and say good-bye to Zoom. Many thanks to those supporting the fellowship on line over the past few months. Any questions please give me a call: Deacon Tom, 440.552.7437 or [email protected].
