Qu es lo que tienen en comn? Cul es el concepto que representan? Cul de estas familias se parece ms a la tuya?

En la actualidad, las familias tienden a ser ms pequeas de lo que eran hace

algunas dcadas.

Por qu crees que ha cambiado? Ser igual en otras partes del mundo?

Investiga en alguna fuente confiable de Internet diferencias en la conformacin de las familias en el mundo.

I. Family members a) Exposicin

This is my family

A continuacin te presentamos el siguiente prrafo, te sugerimos leer en voz

alta.

This is my family

My name is Lucy, Im 19 years old. I live in Puebla and Im a high

school student. I also have a part-time job, Im a shop assistant/

store clerk at a clothing store.

There are six people in my family: Sarah is my mother and she is

a lawyer. Tim is my father, he is a software engineer. Lisa is my

sister and she studies music. My little brother is 9 years old, he is

an elementary school student. Finally, my grandparents, Theresa

and Saul, they have their own business, its a small restaurant; they

are my mothers parents. Oh! besides my mother, they also have

another son and a daughter, they live in other cities, but I will tell you

about them later on.

Nota: Se usa its para mostrar posesin y its para decir it is (to be=ser o estar).

Recuerda!

As como utilizamos los adjetivos posesivos para referir el nombre o las

caractersticas que poseen las personas u objetos, en el caso de la familia, tambin

los utilizamos para expresar el parentesco que tenemos con otros.

a. Exposicin

Escucha el siguiente dilogo e identifica a los familiares de Lucia.

Friend: Who is in the picture?

Lucy: Its my mothers family; her name is Sarah.

Friend: Does she have a brother?

Lucy: Yes, she does. His name is John and he is her little brother. She has a sister too,

her name is Vanesa and she is the oldest.

Friend: Are they married?

Lucy: Yes, they are. My uncle Mario has a wife, her name is Malena, they live in

Monterrey. My aunt Vanesa has a husband, his name is Alfred and they live in Mexico

City.

Friend: Do you have any cousins?

Lucy: Yes, I do.

I have a cousin her name is Joana and shes Vanesas daughter.

Friend: Does Joana have a brother?

Lucy: No, she doesnt.

Friend: Do you have little cousins.

Luca: No, I dont.

Friend: So your mother doesnt have a nephew, mmm. What about Mario and Malena,

do they have children?

Lucy: No they dont. They are newlyweds, they just got married.

b. Presentacin

Verb: haveRecuerdas qu significa el verbo have?

En unidades anteriores se dijo que el verbo have se usa para hablar de las

caractersticas fsicas que tiene una persona.

Por ejemplo: She has long hair. Nota: Have tambin es un verbo auxiliar.

Como verbo, have expresa posesin, significa tener, y puedes utilizarlo para hablar de tu familia.

Por ejemplo, puede usar I have para decir que tienes un primo (forma afirmativa +), o utilizar la forma negativa (-) para indicar que no lo tienes, I dont have...

Revisa cmo se utiliza el verbo have, tanto en su forma afirmativa como en su forma negativa.

Nota:

dont = do not doesnt = does not

Ejemplos:

I have a baby. She is beautiful.

They dont have a nephew, they have a niece.

She doesnt have a husband, she is single.

He doesnt have an uncle.

Ahora bien, sabes cmo utilizar el verbo have para hacer una pregunta?

Se utiliza el auxiliar do/does para realizar preguntas sobre alguna accin, en este

caso, la accin de tener un familiar.

Ejemplos:

Does she have an aunt living in Monterrey?

Do we have any uncles living in the U.S.?

Como se observa en las siguientes oraciones, cuando usamos el auxiliar do/does para realizar preguntas es posible responder de manera corta mediante las siguientes frases:

Ejemplos:

A: Does she have an aunt living in Monterrey?

B: No, she doesnt. / Yes, she does.

A: Do we have any uncles living in the U.S.?

B: Yes, we do. / No, we dont.

a. Exposicin

En algunas familias es comn que sus integrantes tengan el mismo oficio o profesin. Pasa lo mismo en tu familia?

Hello! As I told you before, besides my mother, my grandparents have

another daughter and a son.

Vanesa is my aunt, she is a dentist. She is married to Alfred, he is a bank

clerk. They have a daughter her name is Joanna. She finished college, now she is a doctor.

My uncle is a journalist and he works for a newspaper, his name is Mario.

His wife, Malena, is a receptionist. They just get married and they dont

have kids.

Alfred is my moms brother-in-law, and Malena is her sister-in-law.

Nota: La forma corta del verbo to be (ser o estar).

Nota: Otras forma de indicar la posesin es agregando

una apostrofe (s) al final de la palabra o nombre de

quien se indica la posesin.

Si la palabra termina en s, la apostrofe se coloca

despus.
