Graphical Animation

What are graphics? Pictures displayed on a computer.

What is animation? The creation of moving pictures or

graphics.

Aims of this course: Find out what graphical animation is. Discover what graphical animation can

be used for. Learn to create animations using Adobe

Flash. Be able to upload and display

animations on the internet.

Adobe Flash

Adobe Flash Player is a tool available in most web browsers that allows you to display animations.

Adobe Flash also has many web animation authoring tools available for users.

The authoring tool we will be using in class is Adobe Flash CS4.

Note: In 2005 the company Macromedia was taken over by the company Adobe, so Macromedia Flash is now known as Adobe Flash.

Flash

Flash allows you to create web applications, games and movies, as well as application for mobile phones, such as screensavers.

Flash files are usually known as Flash movies, and have a .swf file extension.

Try and find some flash animations on the Internet.

If you can’t see the movies you will need to download Flash Player 10 for your web browser.

Today I want you to locate some Flash Graphic Animations on the web and share them with your friends.

Join the M5 Graphic Design Group on our website and share you favourite links with the rest of your class.

I also want you to view your friends’ links and comment on what you like or don’t like about their chosen animations.

Flash Animations

Remember to include only animations created using Flash. You can see if the file is Flash by right clicking the movie.

The animations can be funny, serious or educational.

Please don’t choose animations that contain too much violence or content that is not suitable for the classroom!
