WARHAMMER THRONEOF SKULLS GRANDTOURNAMENT 2008-2009

INTRODUCTIONThe Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament a competitive event tofind the best Warhammer General. Along the way, we will becelebrating the skills of exceptional hobbyists, as well as rewardingthose who embody great sporting behaviour. For this to happensuccessfully, there are some fundamental principles that must beadhered to by all players who attend this event.

First and foremost, tthhee RReeffeerreeeess aarree aallwwaayyss rriigghhtt. They have beenempowered to make clear and unambiguous decisions when itcomes to any issue that requires player co-operation so that thereare minimal disruptions to the games. Even if their decision is indirect contravention of the rules, every single player at the event isobliged to accept their rulings.

Secondly, we insist on the highest standards of behaviour at alltimes. This applies to the event staff, to each other and towards thegeneral public.Your games will be taking place in a public venueand we ask that you are mindful of this at all times.

Thirdly, entry into the Throne of Skulls Grand Tournament requiresthat you have a fully painted and based army, which has movementtrays where they are required. No one likes playing either with oragainst an army consisting of unpainted, inappropriately based orbroken and chipped models; this is a grown up hobby played bygrown up people who are sensible enough to know both what “fullypainted” and “acceptable” means.

SCENARIO 2: PITCHED BATTLESee rules for Pitched Battle, found on page 2 of the Warhammer Core Rule Book.

SET UP: See the diagram below for the deployment zones. There aremany mountainous passes in the Warhammer World, and all ofthem are strategically vital as present excellent locations to mountattacks on an invading army. • Roll off to see which player picks the table half they want todeploy in, with their opponent deploying in the other half.

• Units may be placed anywhere in their half of the table, providing it is 12” away from the centre line.

• Taking it in turns, players deploy one unit at a time, no closerthan 24” to the enemy and 12” from the neutral table edges.

WHO GOES FIRST? Both players roll a dice, the player whofinished their deployment first may add +1 to their dice roll. Theplayer who scores the highest may choose to go first or second (re-roll ties).

LENGTH OF GAME: Six turns.

VICTORY CONDITIONS: The player that scored the most victorypoints is the winner.

SPECIAL RULES:• As the battle is fought in a narrow pass surrounded by cliffs,

the long table edges are treated as impassable terrain, and unitsmay not enter or leave via them unless they are ethereal orflyers.

• Pursuing units stop 1” away from the table edge.• At the start of their turn each player must roll a D6 for each of

their enemy’s units that are within 6” of a long table edge. On aroll of 1-5 nothing happens. A roll of a 6 causes a boulder tocrash down from the cliffs and into the unit, inflicting D6 S4hits, distributed as shooting attacks.
