· TH E SPEAR OF RUSS No one truly knows remembers why the Imperial Guard's mainstay tank was named after the Primarc h of the Space Wolves . Some say that it was Leman Russ' Crusade that discovered the STC for the tank. others insist that it was the Space Wo l ves which started using Leman Russ Batt l e Tanks en masse. Although they are usually s ee n as de tachments in Imper i al Guard infantry companies or seen fighting as part of an 'Emperor's Fist ' or ' Emperor's Lance ' armored regiment, the Leman Russ Battle Tan k s a r e a l so some t imes fie l ded by the Space Wo l v es Chapter. The most commonly used varian t in suc h rare ins t ances is the Leman Russ Exterminator. Armed with a pair of tw i n-l i n ke d autocannons and usually a few he avy bolters, the Leman Russ fulfills a ro l e simi l ar to that of a Predator Destructor. When a Long F ang ' s pack be comes too small o r t oo precious to be on the battlefield un protected it is given the priv i lege of dispensin g in d i scr i minate j u s t ice from the inside o f a Leman Russ Battle Tank. Ideally the remnants of a pack receive a dedicat e d vehicle, with the Squad Leader i n control of the vehicle and the rest o f his Long F ang pack manning the various turrets and sponsons. ' The Spear of Rus s' is c omposed of at le a st three similar ve- h i cles and one of them , usual ly the tank with t he o l dest Squad Leader , is c ho s en to be the command t ank. Although uneasy at first.. the di ff e r en t Long Fang packs eventua l ly adap t to t he s ituation and learn to function as one w i th the rest o f the Exterminato r s . S t r i ke F o r ce : A ll un it s in The Spear of Russ m u st be deployed within 6 " o f the command tank, or, i f coming on from reserve they m ust enter the table Within 6" of t he point entered by the command tank . Ideallythe remnants of a pack receive a dedicated vehicle, with the
Squad Leader in control of the vehicle and the rest of his
Long Fang pack manning the various turrets and sponsons.
'The Spear of Russ' is composed of at least three similar ve-
hicles and one of them, usually the tank with the oldest
Squad Leader, is chosen to be the command tank. Althoughuneasy at first.. the di fferen t Long Fang packs eventua llyadapt to the situation and learn to function as one with the
rest of the Exterminators.

As tan es Crew: To represent the long Fangs operating the leman Russ Exterminator tanks, every tank in The Spear of Russ formationains + 1 BS. The extra cost of this upgrade is already included in the points value of the formation.
Auto-targeting System: The leman Russ Exterminators have the Anti-Aircraft Mount spec ial rule.
Fire Cont rol: If a tank from The Spear of Russ formation is Wth in 12" of the co mmand vehicle (o r is the comman d veh icle itself) it canshoot eac h of its weapon at di fferent targets.
