5 × 2 = 10

five timesTwo

elephantsis ten elephants

How many in each group

5 x 2 = 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10

How many groups We can solve it by adding

Skip Counting (by 3's) Skip counting is counting while skipping one or more numbers. To skip count by 3's, skip two numbers while counting.  (3...6...9...)  Many refer to this a "counting by 3's 3 x 5 is skip counting five times or 3...6...9...12...15 and you are at the answer

FOURS

6 + 6 + 6 + 6

4 x 6 = 244 cookies, each having 6 chocolate chips, equal 24 chocolate chips

Double-Double Double-double the number you are multiplying four by.  (Double it twice)

4 x 6 (Double 6 Twice) 6 doubled once is 12, 12 doubled is 24

Another way to figure the answer is double the answer you would get if you multiplied the number by 2.

6 x 2 = 12 12 x 2 = 24
