CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH The annual Music Festival spon- sored by the Women ' s Fellowship of the Farmingville-Holtsville Con- gregational church was held at the Farmingville Fire hall Saturday. A varied program of vocal and in- strumental music was presented with selections ranging from the Satin Tones ' popular presentations to operatic arias and duets. Those who participated were the Satin Tones , a band under the direction of George Loesch; Eleanor Hundt and Jean Coate s, sopranos* , Ena Dunn , contralto; Gary Neivhouse , tenor; William Blair , baritone; Bryce Fogle , pianist; Lillian Chi- ossi , specialty singer; George Betts , carillonneur; Frances Lar- son , organist , and the Dual Tones , Carl Harnann and Charles Lee. Mr. Blair also screed as master- of-ceremonies. Mr. and Mrs . Fred Cru ger lent their piano , which was moved to the Fire Hall by volun- teers, as was the organ. The Women ' s Fellowship plan to serve a dinner like those of a cen- tury ago and Mrs. Lawrence How- ell is in charge of collecting recipes for the dinner. CENTER MORICHES — Among the many duties performed . by Brookhaven Town police , there is the matter of rushing expectant mothers to the hosp ital or , in dire emergency, of assisting in on- the-spot deliveries. This latter duty through some twist of the fate, seems to have been the lot of Sergeant James Meachen of the Fourth orecinc t here who had heVoed * uring rive babies into this world during his 13 years on the force , and June 2 chalked up a success- ful number six. An emergency call from How- ard Hurcomb of Union avenue , here , came to the desk at about 5 a. m. June 2. Mrs. Hurcomb went into labor and there didn 't seem to be any time to take her to the hospital. With the assistance of the be- wildered husband , of his uncle , George Francis , and of Sgt. Mea- chen , it wasn 't long before an- othe r citizen was added to the list of local residents, a perfectly healthy little girl who will be named Cynthia. "I woke up at 5 in the morn- ing,", recalls Mr . llurcomb, " and -we ' barely had time getting ready —Marie*' had her baby about 15 minutes after the pains started. " The family ' s second child , Mar- garet , who is a year old now , was born less than an hour after be- I ginning of the pains , he said. Their firs t , Wayne, is now two years old. Sgt. Meachen , who pointed out that such emergency deliveries can be very dangerous both for the baby and the mother , said he considered himself very lucky. "In my 13 years with the police, I helped deliver six healthy kids now ," he said , and it appears that he holds some sort of a record. Two years ago , he recalls, he almost delivered two babies with- in two hours. Answering the first call , Sgt. Meachen successfully delivered the first and when he was wiping his weary brow at the desk , another call came in, but the mother ju st made it to the hospital before delivery time. "This , " commented a Center Moriches resident, "is what I call special delivery. This fellow- should take over the postoffice department in Washington. T. Grant Company, was made an honorary member of Eta Mu Pi , the honorary retailing fra- ternity. The honor was conferred at a luncheon for New York Uni- versity' s Graduate School of Re- tailing at the Hotel Plaza in New York city, according to William O. Grimmer, manager of the W. T. Grant store in Patchogue. Mr. Staley was cited for his contri- bution to retailing and for the dynamic development of the W. T. Grant Company as a retail or- ganization under his leadership. Mr. Staley was elected presi- dent of the Grant Company in 1952. Under his guidance, the company' s expansion program has increased the number of stores from 491 to 705 and annual sales from $283 , 000, 000 to over $406 , - 000 , 000. The annual Music Festival spon-sored by the Women's Fellowshipof the Farmingville-Holtsville Con-gregational church was held at theFarmingville Fire hall Saturday.A varied program of vocal and in-strumental music was presentedwith selections ranging from theSatin Tones' popular presentationsto operatic arias and duets. Thosewho participated were the SatinTones, a band under the directionof George Loesch; Eleanor Hundtand Jean Coates, sopranos*, EnaDunn , contralto; Gary Neivhouse,tenor; William Blair , baritone;Bryce Fogle, pianist; Lillian Chi-ossi , specialty singer; GeorgeBetts, carillonneur; Frances Lar-son , organist , and the Dual Tones,Carl Harnann and Charles Lee.Mr. Blair also screed as master-of-ceremonies. Mr. and Mrs. FredCru ger lent their piano, which wasmoved to the Fire Hall by volun-teers, as was the organ. Mr. Al-bert Grieshammer , of Medford ,donated the use of his tractor andtrailer fov this task. Mrs. CosimoSardo, the president of the Wom-en's Fellov ship, was in charge ofrefreshments and Mrs. HenryBahnmuller , chairman, welcomedall who attended. Mrs. Leigh Stu-art was the chairman of the ticketcommittee. Ushers were MarianStuart and Kathy Scott. Everyonewho attended the program enjoyedit very much , and a substantia)addition was made to the mort-gage fund of the church.
Plans for the church's centen-nial celebration , at the end of thismonth , are progressing rapidly.The Women 's Fellowship plan toserve a dinner like those of a cen-tury ago and Mrs. Lawrence How-ell is in charge of collecting recipesfor the dinner. Reservations may-be made through any member ofthe Fellowship. The dinner will beserved June 28 and will be fol-lowed by a concert of "The Lifeof Christ in Song," by Philip Cart-wright , baritone, nationally-knownsoloist. A special centennial serv-ice will be held the following after-noon.

CENTER MORICHES — Among the many duties performed . byBrookhaven Town police, there is the matter of rushing expectantmothers to the hospital or, in dire emergency, of assisting in on-the-spot deliveries. This latter duty through some twist of the fate,seems to have been the lot of Sergeant James Meachen of the Fourthorecinct here who had heVoed * uring rive babies into this worldduring his 13 years on the force,and June 2 chalked up a success-ful number six.
An emergency call from How-ard Hurcomb of Union avenue,here, came to the desk at about5 a. m. June 2. Mrs. Hurcombwent into labor and there didn 'tseem to be any time to take herto the hospital.
With the assistance of the be-wildered husband , of his uncle,George Francis , and of Sgt. Mea-chen , it wasn't long before an-other citizen was added to thelist of local residents, a perfectlyhealthy little girl who will benamed Cynthia.
"I woke up at 5 in the morn-ing,", recalls Mr. llurcomb, "and-we' barely had time getting ready—Marie*' had her baby about 15minutes after the pains started."The family's second child, Mar-garet, who is a year old now, wasborn less than an hour after be- I
ginning of the pains, he said.Their first, Wayne, is now twoyears old.
Sgt. Meachen, who pointed outthat such emergency deliveriescan be very dangerous both forthe baby and the mother, said heconsidered himself very lucky."In my 13 years with the police,I helped deliver six healthy kidsnow," he said , and it appears thathe holds some sort of a record.
Two years ago, he recalls, healmost delivered two babies with-in two hours. Answering the firstcall, Sgt. Meachen successfullydelivered the first and when hewas wiping his weary brow atthe desk, another call came in,but the mother just made it tothe hospital before delivery time.
"This," commented a CenterMoriches resident, "is what Icall special delivery. This fellow-should take over the postofficedepartment in Washington."

ED—Edward Staley, vice chair-man of the board and presidentof W. T. Grant Company, wasmade an honorary member of EtaMu Pi, the honorary retailing fra-ternity. The honor was conferredat a luncheon for New York Uni-versity's Graduate School of Re-tailing at the Hotel Plaza in NewYork city, according to WilliamO. Grimmer, manager of the W.T. Grant store in Patchogue. Mr.Staley was cited for his contri-bution to retailing and for thedynamic development of the W.T. Grant Company as a retail or-ganization under his leadership.
Mr. Staley was elected presi-dent of the Grant Company in1952. Under his guidance, thecompany's expansion program hasincreased the number of storesfrom 491 to 705 and annual salesfrom $283,000,000 to over $406,-000,000. Thus far in 1958, thecompany has opened 21 new storesand has modernized, enlarged orrelocated 18 stores.
