Introductiop

Gold and base metal exploration has been conducted in the Lumby Lake meta volcanic belt since 1918. The first recorded work was reported in Mike Jackson's (OGS, 1985) report of his mapping of the western part of the belt from Rep Paint Lake to the eastern end of Old Man Lake. He reports a base metal occurrence along the south shore of Pinecone Lake in the central portion of his mapped area and a few hundred feet south of the iron formation located under the lake.

The next base metal exploration phase took place in the late 1940's at the northeast end of Morris Lake and at the west end of Lumby Lake.

A third phase of base metal exploration took place in the late 1970's when Mining North discovered a zinc bearing felsic zone along the south east shore of Core Lake.

The release of the OGS Airborne Geophysical EM and Mag survey in 1980 created a staking rush. Many of the properties were staked for their base metal potential. The base metal targets were selected based on old geological data. Mike Jackson's (OGS) mapping in 1982 and 1989 and the release of his report in 1985 did not create substantial interest because of the subdued exploration activity in the area at the time.

In 1990-91, the author returned to the area to review the base metal potential of the area from the Old Man Lake area to the Serpent lake area. Several new base metal occurrences were discovered throughout the surveyed area. One of the most promising discovery was made between Lumby Lake and Herontrack Lake 100 metres north of the creek. A very high grade silver, zinc and lead occurrence was discovered in a highly altered felsic volcaniclastic zone composed mainly of siliceous chert and tuff with pervasive blue quartz eyes throughout the zone.

To date, silver values of up to 416 opt, zinc up to 7.5% and lead up to 25% have been obtained from this 12 to 13 meter wide mineralized felsic volcaniclastic zone. It has been the quest for Atikokan Resources Inc. trace out the extent of these mineralized felsic zone in the Lumby, Herontrack and Spoon Lake area.

Atikokan Resources has carried out two successful years of exploration activity in this area and has discovered several new base metal bearing blue quartz eye rich felsic volcaniclastic zones on a cut grid 1.6 km north-south and 5.7 km east-west.

This report summarizes the third stripping and trenching program carried out in September, October and November of 1997 on the Herontrack Lake Property located 75 kilometres northeast of Atikokan, Ontario. t i "* V

Sumroary

The results of the stripping program was successful in identifying eight new sulphide showings. They are located in the following areas:

South Shore Of Lumby Lake

A new sulphide zone was located at 21+25E near the shoreline. A 5 meter wide mineralized felsic volcaniclastic horizon was uncovered along the south shore and found to contain about 5 to 10% sulphides consisting mainly of pyrite and chalcopyrite. The bedded felsic tuffs have a easterly strike and a northerly dip similar to other felsic rocks in the area.

A new sulphide horizon was found on line 22+OOE near 22+25N. A 12 to 14 meter wide altered felsic horizon was exposed here having similar mineralogy as the previous zone.

A third zone was found in this area near line 26+OOE around 22+50N. This zone also consisted of altered felsic volcaniclastic tuffs mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite and minor sphalerite.

West Shore Of Heron track Lake

Two areas were stripped 25 to SO metres north of baseline 24+00N between lines 30+OOE and 31+50E. No sulphide mineralization was observed in bedrock near line 31+50E but bedded sulphides were uncovered in felsic volcanic rocks near line 30+OOE.

Base Line 32+OON. 29+OOE

The stripping in this area failed to expose any outcrop, however, outcrop was exposed in an area 25 metres north of the road near line 29+OOE. The rocks in this area appeared altered and was mineralized with disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. It is suspected that these rocks may be altered ultra mafic fine grained volcanic rocks. This may explain the presence of copper, nickel and cobalt soil geochem anomalies in this area.

West Pond Lake Zone

An area of bedrock 25 x 40 metres was exposed just east of line 38+OOE near 34+50N to explain the presence of a strong copper, nickel, cobalt, arsenic soil geochem anomaly at this location. A 12 to 13 meter wide highly altered bedded sulphide zone was uncovered at this location. The zone contained semi-massive to massive bedded pyrite and chalcopyrite in a highly altered (serialized, carbonatized and talcose) volcanic rock. It is uncertain if the original volcanic rock was either felsic or ultra mafic in composition. The altered volcanic rock also has a high level fucsite which suggests an ultra mafic origin. Samples were taken for analysis. This mineralized zone also coincides with a prominent east-west trending 3 kilometer long airborne Input EM anomaly trend. Two strong localized magnetic anomalies are located 100 to ISO metres east and west of this stripped area.

A total of nine (9) areas were stripped and two areas were drilled and blasted. The stripping took place at the following locations:

(1) Along the south shore of Lumby Lake between lines 21+OOE and 26+OOE(2) On the west shore of Herontrack Lake north of base line 24+OON, between lines 30+OOE

and 32+OOE,(3) On line 29+OOE from 32+OON to 32+60N.(4) On lone 38+OOE from 34+25N to 34+50N.(5) On line 48+OOE, from 31+OON to 32+05N(6) Between lines 44+OOE and 46-KM)E, from 21+OON to 23+OON(7) From 21+75N to 22+25N, and from 39+75E to 40+25E(8) On line 39+OOE, from 21+OON to 21+35N(9) Between lines 53+OOE and 54+OOE, from 21+75N to 22+75N

The objective of this stripping program was to explain:A - The cause of the I.P. anomalies along the south shore of Lumby Lake and the

west shore of Herontrack Lake. B - The Airborne Input EM and soil geochem anomalies near base line 32+OON around

lines 29+OOE, 38+OOE and 48+OOE and C - Expose of the mineralized base metal sulphide bearing felsic volcaniclastic rocks and

soil geochem anomalies found in the 1996 mapping and sampling program along thenorth and south shore of Spoon Lake near lines 39+OOE, 40+OOE and 45+OOE on thepeninsula and on line 53+OOE on the central peninsula.

Northwest Delos Lake Showing

Two separate zones of sulphide mineralization was exposed by stripping on the baseline and south of 32+OON at line 48+OOE. The first zone measuring about 15 to 17 metres wide exposed beaded felsic tuff containing 10 to 40% sulphide consisting mainly of pyrite with minor chalcopyrite. A second very wide (40 to 50 metres) sulphide (5 to 20%) horizon was located about 45 metres south of the baseline. The rocks at this location are mineralized with pyrrhotite, cbalcopyrite and pyrite. The rocks appear to be ultra mafic in composition based on its density, and mineral composition.

West Spoon Lake Peninsula

A long (200 metres) northwest trending area was stripped to bedrock on this peninsula to determine the cause of the soil zinc anomalies on line 45+OOE. This work resulted in exposing 150 meter long altered and mineralized felsic zone 10 to 25 metres wide from the east shore of the peninsula to the northwest corner of the peninsula. This zone contained pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena mineralization very similar to the main silver showing on the west side of Herontrack Lake near baseline 24+OON. Three other sulphide bearing felsic volcaniclastic horizons were exposed on this point south and west of the above stripping.

West. North Shore Spoon Lake

A wide zone (25 meter) of mineralized quartz eye rich felsic volcaniclastic rocks were uncovered by stripping on line 40+00E, 10 metres north from the north shore of the lake. Frequent east-west trending chalcopyrite-sphalerite-bornite stringers can be found throughout the east west trending bedded felsic volcaniclastic unit This sulphide zone is traceable for over 225 metres on strike from line 39+75E to 42+OOE.

West. South Shore Spoon Lake

Another zone of mineralized felsic volcaniclastic rocks were exposed by stripping near the south shore of Spoon Lake on line 39+00E. A 20 to 25 meter wide zone of this mineralized felsic volcaniclastic rock has been found to contain pyrite and chalcopyrite.

Central Peninsula. North Shore of Spoon Lake

An area of bedrock 100 m x 20 m was exposed near line 53+OOE. This area contains two zones of mineralized quartz eye bearing felsic volcaniclastic rocks. One of the zones strikes directly eastward towards the zinc-lead-copper-silver bearing zone located on line 54+OOE and also known as the Little Long Lac Showing discovered in the 1950's. The second zone 10 to 15 metres wide and located 30 to 35 metres north and parallel to the above zone also strikes eastward.

Descriptiop. Location And Access

The stripping was carried out on claims numbered 1185425, 1185426 and 1185427 located on the Norway Lake sheet in the Thunder Bay Mining Division. The property is accessible via a gravel based road from the Sapawe junction on Highway 11 24 kilometres east of Atikokan, north western Ontario. The centre of the three claims is located at latitude 49 02' and longitude 91 17'. The UTM coordinates for the area covered in the stripping is from 623,OOOE to 626,500E and from 5,432,OOON to 5,433,500N.

The property is accessible by a gravel based logging road 42 kilometres north from the Sapawe junction at Highway 11 along the Premier Lake and Spoon Lake roads. Trails have been established to all of the stripping areas.

Geology

The property is located in the Lumby Lake Metavolcanic Belt near the southern edge of the Wabigoon sub-province which forms part of the Superior Province. The Lumby Lake metavolcanic belt is composed of mafic metavolcanic massive and pillow flows, tuffs, flow breccia, inter bedded with intermediate and felsic metavolcanic flows, tuffs iapilli tuffs, agglomerates and breccia followed by clastic and chemical metasedimentary rocks such as slates, argillite, graphitic argillite, arkosic sandstone, conglomerates, sulphide and oxide fades iron formation, chert, and limestone. Ultra mafic metavolcanic flows with spinifex texture have only recently been identifies in the Lumby Lake Belt. This stripping program has identified additional ultra mafic units north of Spoon Lake. However spinifex texture has not been confirmed in these rock units.

The most economically favourable rock units identified on the property to date are the felsic volcaniclastic tuff and Iapilli tuff, chemical chert sediments and ultra mafic metavolcanic rocks. The favourable felsic metavolcanic rocks contain the high grade silver mineralization, zinc and lead, The felsic volcanic rocks are generally contain blue quartz eyes, altered to sericite schist, carbonatized, silicified and sometimes contain variable quantities of fucsite. In some area the altered felsic volcanic rocks are chloritized and talcose. The felsic volcanic rocks consists of quartz eye tuff, Iapilli tuff, tuff breccia, massive quartz-feldspar porphyry flow and/or intrusive and chert.

The Lumby Lake - Spoon Lake Felsic Horizon is host to the main high grade silver- base metal discovery showing. Several other base metal bearing sulphide zones have been discovered along this Horizon.

The mam economic minerals observed to date are sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite, acantnite and native silver. Minor amounts of bornite has been noted in most of the mineralized zones. Minor quantities of gold has been reported in many of the zones varying from trace amounts to 0.05

ounces per ton. Pyrite as disseminated grains and seams is the predominant sulphide present in all of the felsic zones.

The uhra mafic flows and intrusive gabbro have been found on the property and contain variable quantities of copper, nickel and cobalt, silver, platinum and palladium. The later two elements have been found in a mineralized gabbro outcrop, 200 metres south of the silver discovery and found to contain up to 80 ppb and 0.01 ounce per ton respectively.

Description Of the Stripping Program

The program was initiated to explain the numerous Induced Polarization, soil, rock and airborne Input anomalies found in the central portion of the western claim block.

Overburden up to 4 meter thick was removed to expose bedrock. Most of the areas stripped required the removal of less than 1 meter of overburden.

South $hqref Lupnb

A 20 to 22 meter wide east - west striking quartz eye bearing felsic tuff horizon containing 5 to 10% sulphides was discovered near line 26+OOE near 22+60N. The felsic horizon is mineralized with chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena and abundant pyrite. This zone is located 100 metres west of an IP anomaly detected on line 27+00 E.

A second east striking sulphide bearing quartz eye rich felsic volcanic tuff was exposed by stripping at the shore near line 22+50E. Chalcopyrite and pyrite mineralization was also observed in this zone. This sulphide zone appears to coincide with an IP anomaly in this area.

A third area of stripping on line 22-KX)E near 21+50N also exposed a sulphide bearing felsic volcaniclastic horizon measuring about 15 metres wide. Drilling and blasting will have to be carried out on this zone to identify the type of sulphide mineralization contained in this zone.

West Sh-Ore^ Herontrflck Laky

Two areas were stripped east of the maim silver base metal discovery and north of base line 24+OON.

The first area, measuring 1 5 x 25 metres, was stripped to explain the £P anomaly on line 3 1+50E and 24+SON. Only quartz feldspar rhyolite porphyry and massive gabbro was observed in the stripped area. The IP anomaly may be caused by a mineralized zone located at depth below surface.

The second area measuring 30 x 15 metres was stripped near line 30+OOE at 24+50N. Some narrow sulphide zones of mineralization was uncovered. The mineralization consisting of pyrite and minor chalcopyrite was contained within altered quartz eye bearing felsic volcanic rocks.

Northeast Lumby Lake Are$

Some stripping was carried out 50 metres north of base line 32+OON at line 29+OOE. A long deep trench was excavated along the picket line 5 to 8 metres wide SO metres long and up to S metres deep. No bedrock was encountered during this excavation. We were unable to explain the cause of the Input EM anomaly in this area. However, a small area of outcrop was exposed 15 metres north of the road near line 29+OOE where the trail begins. Fine disseminated sulphide mineralization was observed in this stripping. The mineralization appears to be contained in an altered, fine grain ultra mafic rock possibly a flow.

West Pond

An area 25 x 30 metres was excavated on line 38+OOE from 34+25N to 34+50N. This stripping was carried out to explain a copper, nickel, cobalt arsenic anomaly on this line at 34+50N. The stripping uncovered a 13 14 meter wide zone of altered metavolcanic tuffaceous rock. The rocks has been highly altered to sericite, ankerite and contains abundant rucsite. The tuffacious horizon consists of bands and seams of massive pyrite with moderate amounts of chalcopyrite. The bedded zone strikes in an easterly direction and dips to the north.

Nortfawest Deios Lake jj^one

This zone was exposed by stripping at location 32+OON and 48+OOE. A stripping area 1 5 to 20 metres wide and 100 metres long has exposed two wide sulphide zones. The most northerly zone located at 32+OON extends southward for 18 metres and consists of massive bedded pyrite layers 1 to 3 cm thick striking southeasterly towards Delos Lake and dipping north. Some chalcopyrite was observed in the bedded sulphides, the sulphides appear to be hosted within an altered felsic tuffaceous rock.

A second and wide sulphide zone was also exposed about 45 metres south of 32+OON. Here, the zone is over 50 metres wide and appears to be a well mineralized fine grained ultra mafic volcanic rock. The sulphide mineralization consist of seams, stringers and dissemination of pyrrhothe, chalcopyrite and pyrite.

West Point. Spoon Lake

A long area (1 5 m x 200 m) of stripping was carried out on this peninsula to explain the cause of the soil zinc anomalies on line 45+OOE near 22+OON. The stripping was again successful in exposing an altered and mineralized quartz eye rich felsic volcaniclastic zone, measuring 10 to 25 metres wide. This zone was traced along a northwesterly strike for about 100 metres. The mineralization consisted of abundant pyrite moderate chalcopyrite and some sphalerite and galena contained in a sericitic and silicified altered felsic volcanic rock.

Two other separate sulphide zone were exposed by stripping southwest and west of the previous zone. They also consisted of mineralized and altered felsic volcaniclastic rocks. These zones vary in width from 10 to 1 5 metres wide and have an easterly strike and dip to the north.

West Spoon Lake. North Shore

A stripping area ( 30 m x 50 m) has exposed a 25 metres wide east striking sulphide bearing quartz eye rich felsic volcaniclastic zone containing locally strong chalcopyrite and sphalerite mineralization. This mineralization is contained within a pyrite rich altered (sericitized and

West Peninsul^ North Shore Of Spoon Lake

A sulphide bearing quartz eye rich altered feisic zone was observed along the north shore of Spoon Lake from line 41+OOE to 43+OOE. The strongest zinc soil anomaly was found on line 43+OOE at the shore line directly over this sulphide zone. A cadmium anomaly was also detected at this location. A consistent zinc and lead anomaly trend extends northwest from this sample location. More stripping is required in this area to explain all of the favourable geochem soil zinc and lead anomalies.

West Spoon Lftke,. South Shore

This zone was exposed by stripping on line 39+OOE north of 21+OON. The stripping area(25 m x 30 m) has exposed a 20 metres wide altered and mineralized quartz eye rich felsic rock. The rock is mineralized with mostly pyrite and moderate amount of chalcopyrite.

Central Peninsula. Spoon Lake

An area (20 m x 60 m) was stripped off just east of line S3+OOE between 22+OON and 23+OON. Three separate sulphide bearing felsic volcaniclastic zones were exposed and. The felsic rocks appear banded, strike easterly and dip to the north. The central zone appears to strike towards the 13 meter wide zinc, lead, copper, silver and gold bearing zone uncovered in 1996. The other two sulphide bearing felsic volcanic zones are similarly altered and mineralized.

Condusions

The Stripping program was very successful in discovering and confirming additional sulphide bearing blue quartz eye rich felsic volcaniclastic rocks similar to those found to contain the high silver-zinc-lead bearing volcaniclastic rocks at the high grade silver bearing base metal (zinc, lead) discovery area, between Lumby Lake and Herontrack Lake.

The stripping program was also successful in explaining the cause of the cobalt, nickel and copper soil geocbem anomalies as coming from ultra mafic komatittic flows located along the Pond Lake Sulphide Horizon.

The stripping program has confirmed the presence of multi-layered copper-zinc-silver bearing felsic volcaniclastic rocks for a strike length of over 5 kilometres along the main Lumby Lake - Spoon Lake Sulphide Horizon.

The work carried out to date has identified three major drilling targets which has been described as having a VMS base metal type environment

Two other such horizons have been identified on the property north of the Lumby Lake - Spoon Lake Horizon.

New zones discovered between Herontrack Lake and Spoon Lake has identified higher quantity and level of copper with zinc and silver values.

The level of gold in the Main Lumby Lake Spoon Lake Horizon varies from trace to 0.05 opt

Platinum and palladium has been detected in a mineralized gabbro 200 metres south of the high grade silver, zinc and lead discovery showing.

Recommendations;

The 1996 and 1997 exploration program has identified and confirmed the continuity of the base metal bearing febic volcaniclastic rocks for over a 5.5 kilometer strike distance from the west end of the grid at line 17+OOE to line 84+OOE. The work has identified three major base metal drilling targets under the Lakes.

The first drill target covers the easterly and westerly extension of the main silver - base metal discovery area located from line 17+OOE to 31+50E between 22+OON and 25+OON under Lumby and Herontrack Lake.

The second zone of strong economic interest is located near the east end of Herontrack Lake to the western peninsula on Spoon Lake from line 36+OOE to line 46+OOE between 20+OON and 23+OON.

A third drilling target has been identified under the eastern part of Spoon Lake from line 54+OOE to 66+OOE between 20+OON and 23+OON.

In total, 14 holes are recommended on the first phase drilling of the above targets.

This work would cost approximately S 300,000.00.
