Happy New Decade. I wish all Knights and their families a happy, healthy and safe 2020. Enjoy all that we have and give thanks to our Lord. We have accom-plished so much as Knights. Much more we will do. On January 1 we all lost a friend. He was a priest. He was our first Chaplin. He was a Knight. Fr Pe-ter Watters always spoke of his history. He was a

failed businessman, He would speak of his addic-tions particularly alcohol. He was in jail and hitting “rock bottom“. He was 50 and in that jail, he-turned to Jesus to help him. From that moment on, Fr Peter abstained from alcohol, he decided he would devote his life to caring for others , es-pecially those who had fallen along life’s journey . He applied and was accepted to the priesthood. He proceeded to minister for over 40 years.We will miss his encouragement but we are stronger and smarter be-cause he was with us.. God bless you Fr Peter. Rest in God’s arms. This Tuesday, January 14, we will meet to approve the budget. This was published in last months’ Marian Call.

One major event we have scheduled is the Bas-ketball freethrow. We and MMOG council do this for the Youth of our Town. It is a lot of fun. Please volunteer. See you at the meeting. MARIAN LADIES Hi Ladies I would like to thank all the Ladies who came out to our Christmas social. We had great food, wine, friendship and socialization. We also had a bit of fun with some trivia games. Many thanks to all who brought a dish to share and a toy for the toy drive. Thank you again Conor for being our host and bartender. We always appreciate your help. Our next meeting will be in May. Once I confirm a date with Andrew, than I will let everyone know. I would like to encourage all wives and widows to join us. We have a lot of fun, usually good food, sometimes a glass wine and best of all good friendship. We meet 3 times a year, May Sep-tember and December. Membership is $10.00 a year and usually paid at the September meeting. I would like to wish everyone very Blessed New Year with your family and friends. Basketball Free Throw Championship 2020 Marian Council 3881 and Mary Mother of God Coun-cil 14474 are hosting the Oakville Free Throw Basket-ball championship on January 25th, 2020. CELEBRATION OF THE HOLY FAMILY – DECEMBER 29TH Working with St. Michael’s Church, Marian Council 3881 hosted a Celebration of the Holy Family on Sunday, Decem-

ber 29. 2019 at the Oakville Banquet Hall. The celebration fell on the same day as the Feast of the Holy Family and marked the Council’s Faith in Action Consecration to the Holy Family event. The celebration involved choirs and bands playing Christmas songs from different countries and cultures as well as spiritual reflections read by Father Jerzy Tomon, Pastor of St. Michael’s Church. Songs were played in the following language or countries: Taga-log, German, Italian, Slovak, Spanish, Polish, Croatian, and Portu-guese from bands and choirs from St. Michael’s Church, St. Andrew’s Church, St. Stani-slaus, Holy Trinity Croatian Church,

and St. Joseph’s Portuguese Church. Over 150 people attended the celebration, with food, desserts, coffee and refreshments supplied donated by the CWL of St. Michael’s, partici-pants from the various parishes, individuals and Marian Council 3881. In addition to the Christmas songs, Marian Council 3811 also provided a display of Nativity Scenes as well Keep Christ in Christmas colouring table for children attending the event. The celebration was concluded by Grand Knight Bob Grouchy who remarked on the blessing of families and how we, coming together as Christians and friends are also united together as one family. The Grand Knight ended the celebration by having the Knights of Columbus Consecration of the Holy Family Prayer Card handed out to the attendees, everyone standing and reading the prayer aloud together. Thank you to all who assisted in organizing this celebration. In particular, special thanks goes out to Brother Steve Novak, Grand Knight Bob Grouchy, Brother Conor Boyd and Deputy Grand Knight Roberto Pegoraro.
