Sir, I regularly visit Jeeva Parkwith my children and a couple ofdays ago I was shocked to see a 5-foot-deep trench which was leftuncovered and not barricadednear the children’s play area.

It poses a grave danger to thechildren who crowd the play area.

Sir, We tirelessly complain andquickly point fingers at civic au-thorities on various issues, somejustifiable and some exaggerated.

At the same time, one shouldalso look at our own lack of civicsense and irresponsible behavior,before criticizing the authorities!

Here is one glaring instance.We complain of the poor condi-

tion of the roads but we are notprepared to put up with the diffi-culty for even a few hours as theyare being laid.

The surface of PinjalaSubramanian Street was recentlyconcreted. If one observes the roadnear the entrances to houses, in anumber of places deep tyre marksare visible which were obviouslymade by the vehicles belonging tothe residents while the surfacewas still wet! Does it not show ourown disregard for public property?

In my street, residents living inflats compete with the slum dwell-ers in throwing garbage “around”dust bins! Who is going to edu-cate them?

Sir, We received a complaint from one of our residents about theinordinate delay in the supply of LPG refills by the IndaneTUCS located on Kuppaiah Chetty Street, West Mambalam.

When our association member met the concerned official at IOC,he immediately called the concerned agency and was told that thedelay was on account that the refill was processed under the non-subsidized category.

When we said this was incorrect, the official checked the refilldetails of the consumer online from April 2013 to date and found thata total of 9 refills had been supplied under the subsidized category.

In reality, the complainant had ordered only 3 refills during thesaid period and we produced the receipts to prove the same.

It was clear from the above facts that the agency had followed theconsumer’s usage pattern and had illegally sold the subsidized refillsmeant for her to someone else.

We then lodged a written complaint with IOC. When we next met the officials of TUCS in its head office, he

immediately realized the gravity of the situation and arranged forimmediate delivery of the refill at subsidized rate and also assuredthat all future deliveries too would be made at subsidized rate.

I am writing this letter to enlighten consumers and advice them tokeep a count of their refills and also preserve the receipt so as to putat naught any foul play by the agencies.
