Even if it is just for that moment the he is somebody and the crowd proves that to him even if it is just for ‘one dance’.

he wants someone, possibly a girlfriend, to recognise the talent he has and to alter their opinion of him.

Facing the crowd he realises that he is ‘somebody’.

Has a point to prove and feels that he has the talent to do so.

He could be referring to the crowd or a girlfriend, and is asking them to give him a chance and not shoot him down.

Now that he has been given the chance and has taken the leap from being unnoticed to being in the public eye, he refers to a possible girlfriend who could pull the trigger in all his success as she has the power to do so. She could make or break him.

Likes to control him, has authority over him.

The girlfriend knows its now down to her whether she allows him to ‘Be Somebody’.
