A Message from your Pastor: 34O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 We can say a lot of things about social media; some good and some not so good. One positive practice that many people undertake every day in November is to post things that they are thankful for. It’s interesting that once you get past family and friends, food, shelter, etc. we have to think a little harder. Some people keep a gratitude journal and each day write down something that they are grateful for. Imagine if everyone took the time to look around and be grateful for what they see, smell, hear, touch, and/or taste. Maybe even give thanks for the senses themselves! Whether you are on social media or not; whether you choose to write it down or not; it’s a good practice to get into, not just in November, but throughout the year! To start this off, I give thanks for each of you, for the many and various ways that you lift one another up through prayer, meals, and sometimes simply ministry of presence. For what do you give thanks? Pastor Candy

WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Altar Guild needs new members now! Won’t you consider volunteering? You can pick your day - either Saturday or Sunday - to set up Communion for the worship service. If you have any questions, talk to Faye Bresan or Pastor Candy! Thank you!
ST PAUL TOY DRIVE Toy Drive dates are November 16-December 8. Toys will be donated to “Deputy Santa.” We will collect toys for infants through age 12. A collection box will be placed in the Narthex. New toys are appreciated. Please include batteries with toys that require them. A list of popular items: books, puzzles, games, cards, dolls, earbuds (for working on projects at school - these hook up to phones, Ipads, etc.), Legos, building blocks, cars, trucks, trains, play doctor kits, art kits, backpacks, purses, scarves, basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, etc. If you wish to make a monetary donation to the drive, please make your check payable to St. Paul and mark your envelope “Toy Drive.”
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. Psalm 46:1-3
In recent years, the occurrences of shootings have escalated in communities, schools, and houses of worship. One year ago, on November 2, La Grange Police Officers & Fayette County Deputies became just one more small community added to that list.
These are fearful times and our sense of self-preservation can cause us to react in ways that can actually cause more harm than good. The Texas Legislature recently enacted Texas laws allowing both open and concealed weapons carry in all establishments unless signs are posted prohibiting weapons.
At our September meeting, the St Paul Council discussed these new laws. In consultation with members of our security team and members of the LG Police Department, the council voted not to allow OPEN carry on the church grounds. This, of course, excludes law enforcement personnel. We will be posting the required signs at all entrances to reflect this policy.
Because we have no way to enforce the prohibition of concealed weapons carry, we have chosen to take no action at this time.
Our security team: Jackie Skelton, John D. Marburger, George Eilert, & Don Koether are looking into ways to make us more secure and we will update you as changes occur. If you have questions or comments, feel free to contact one of them.
“Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.”
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Psalm 46:10-11

Chillin’ with Caleb
Hello St Paul,
I pray that this newsletter finds you well. LYO has continued on as normal. October saw us
begin our Tamale Sale (as an aside, if you haven't ordered any yet, let the office know. They’re $10
a dozen) and paint pumpkins for Compassionate Service Providers. November will see the Tamale
Sale conclude with the Delivery Day on the 21st, and we’ll take a trip on November 17th to Lutherhill
to have a good time on their ropes course.
WOW has continued and we got to see the kids answer some tough questions about Faith in
the video that we made for the October 20th Youth service. Room still available at WOW, so if you
know a child who would like to be a part of the group, sign them up!
The youth of St Paul led a worship service on October 20th. We saw 10 kids of varying ages
get together and help make the worship service happen. Some of them did the Readings, some
sang solos, many of them ushered during communion and offering. Among my favorite parts was
getting to record some videos of interviews I held with the WOW and Confirmation kids, as we got to
hear about Faith from the mouths of our kids here at St Paul.
In worlds outside our walls, we collected a special offering for East Chambers ISD in Winnie,
TX, a school district reeling from the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Imelda. I am proud to say
that because of St Paul’s efforts, we were able to donate over $1,500 to East Chambers ISD. Our
mission statement at St Paul is Share, Care, and Grow, and it’s such a joy to watch this community
share and care for communities such as Winnie, TX and I thank you all for your generosity.
