r o o m + g a r d e ndefining moments and fields
objective: exploring the moments [room] and fields [garden] through three different scales of space: space for few, space for many, and vertical space, as well as interaction human scale and a dirigible.
the moments and fields are created base on the way lights and shadows occupy and move people throughout the day. the dirigible plays a major role of changing lights, which essentially are the fields and landscape of each moment and field.

m a t r i xexpanding the possibility of space
objective: to understand the transformation from two-dimensional to three-dimensional spaces by concentrating on three moments, and making connections between them. to synthesize a part of a whole.
the three moments are connected with the extension of fields, creating the possibility of space, which can es-sentially become occupiable. the language of the drawing is translated into a model with a reminiscent of the what was there. it is then further develops as moments, fields, thresholds, and itinerary.

a r c h i t e c t u r a la n a l y s i sr m schindler’s house | california
objective: to understand and analyze a given site through drawings and diagrams.
the house being studied is the kings road house by r.m. schindler in hol-lywood, california. plans and sections are originally drawn in one foot per one eighth inch scale, following by the plan oblique drawing. diagram shows the way major occupational spaces and circulations are defined through how lights enter space.

d o o r w i n d o w s t a i rthreshold aperture circulation
objective: taking the language of music and book character to create space that define the characteristics through abstractly representing three ele-ments: threshold [door], aperture [window], and circulation [stair].
inspired irish music and “midnight in the garden of good and evil,” the door-window-stair holds its verticality with three different spaces within. the core of the space is the amature, which essentially branches out to planer and framework systems.

three walls: the wall of books, the wall of light, and the wall of map inspired the design of this museum. locating in savannah, georgia, the heights of surrounding buildings around the tiding lot and square frame the height of the design. the museum, however excavate ground, framing an unusual apertures that cannot be experienced else where in the city.

d e s e r tlandscape investigation
objective: to create two spaces for artists: a ceramicist and a weaver along with 10-person workshop and residential space for each artist in a desert landscape. different characteristic of each artist influence the way space is designed as well as how they react the surrounding landscape.
the ceramicist works with earth. his space is solely integrated with the land-scape. having the entrance is through experiencing water flow from the river that then circulates into studio space not only for a sense of space but also for pottery process. the weaver, on the other hand has his space all above ground. the intense repetition of stairs that lead up to his space allow one to be appreciative of the weaving process. the light as entrance also symbol-ize the way how light seeps through each line of thread during the weaving process.

m a t e r i a l o p e r a t i o n sorganize space and form
objective: to investigate the formal operations and rede-velop relationships between studio work space and the surroundings. controlling a surrounding factors through a system that varies in discrepancies, and apertures.
the modular unit created with an influence of sun angles, responding the way the light illuminates the desk that is located on the corner next to large strips of windows. the variation of this particular system differentiate how the light hits that desk, the shadows it creates, and different views of the exterior.

g r o u n d o p e r a t i o n sexploring the site
objective: exploring the physical and phenomenologi-cal qualities of a site through a series of recordings and interventions. understanding the ground and built form as related parts of a new territory, which are two conceptually and physically dependent entities.
two studies of noise level and city skyline are carried out through the given site in forest park. the findings shapes the way this bird watching pathway moves: from a highly noised space of the street to a serene revelation of the cityscape as one walks up the hill.

s p a t i a l o p e r a t i o n snegotiating site and occupation
this project is a continuation of the previous project, site operation. extending the familiarity of the site to a greater extent, a similar type of mapping of sound is extended to a greater site of the central field. the most appropriate specific site is then chosen for a pavilion. the size is approximately 10,000 square feet.
the same language of system as the previous projects are used to design the space on this pavilion. the pavilion is consisted of two parts: one being having landscape over a built form, another is having a built form that work with landscape. one enters a space along side with a small hill landscape, and gradually moving through an open cafe that allow people to easily move in and out the space of the pavilion and the hill. the building slowly emerges into the ground as it moves toward the multipurpose room.
