The influence of The Beatles music changed recording and sound forever. Being the first band to use a recording studio to create complex sounds that acted as a competitive tool with other musicians, making their music very diverse, ranging from psychedelic tunes, to soothing melodies. The Beatles impact on culture differs from appearance to lifestyle. They inspired a fashion of mop-top haircuts and moustaches, which is famously seen on the cover of their album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. The Beatles clothing styles changed with the times. Another fashion that was sported by them were black collarless suits, which inspired a modern look. Later on, they began wearing bright, colorful clothing to represent a psychedelic era. After this, the band wore more simple clothing; torn jeans and t-shirts.Another influence The Beatles had on society was their use of drugs. Bob Dylan first introduced the group to marijuana in 1964, and since then the band had experimented with drugs such as acid, heroin, and preludin. The free use of these drugs inspired fans to follow their footsteps, and soon petitions were being made to legalize marijuana. People began rebelling against drug use laws, and soon The Beatles got blamed for this controversy.

One particular individual who was greatly influenced by The Beatles was Charles Manson. He was a Beatles fan who enjoyed their music. Manson was a racial serial killer, who believed that The Beatles spoke to him thorough their lyrics, especially those found on‘The White Album’. He made connections between The Beatles and the Bible, and began ‘Helter Skelter’, an attempted race war. On some of the victims, he would carve lyrics onto the bodies with their own blood.

The song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds used the acronyms of LSD to suggest that The Beatles were using that drug while they wrote the song. The vivid colors and images that are sung about in the song can mirror the images seen in an LSD trip. This is one of those songs that has influenced people with drug experimentation.

The imagery portrayed in the song can lead to curious minds wanting to see those images for themselves
