The day-to-day life of our fellowship is the glue that holds our spiritual community together.Unitarian Universalism approaches the more "secular" aspects of fellowship life with thesame religious intent as it's worship. Our religious education classes, adult activitiesgroups, community volunteerism and building facilities committeesare essential aspects of our spiritual work. We believe it is ourdeeds, not our creeds, which are most important.
Every day we have people helping the Fellowship in ways thatallow our community to thrive. Whether you are a board member,on a committee, you make coffee, do dishes, vacuum, shovelsnow, rack leaves, plan a garden, help coordinate a service or you
do one of the other countless tasks, the time and talents you share is incredibly important forour Fellowship community. Please know you are immensely appreciated.

GLOBE
GREEN TIP’SFebruary is a good month to consider decreasing the
amount of packaging you buy. Use your own shoppingbags. Buy bulk products and put them in your own glassjars, bottles, and tins. Diffusers holding fragrant oilsneed to be in glass, as plastic changes the scent. Reallyscrutinize the amount of packaging that a product usesbefore purchasing and try to opt for those withless. Restaurant doggie bags could sometimes be givento you in a simple napkin, and paper sack. Ask for aproduct to be other than styrofoam; molded pulp is awonderful product, as is thin cardboard. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SUPPORT THE LOCAL FOOD MOVEMENT! Join the Farm to School coalition ofHealthiest Manitowoc County (HMC) Tuesday February 11 at 6pm at WoodlandDunes 3000 Hawthorne Two Rivers (HWY 310) for the forth in a series of six 90-minute community awareness discussions specific to improving health by increas-ing access to fresh, local food.
This month, Healthiest Manitowoc County Farm to School volunteers offers thescreening of Dirt, The Movie. The expression "common as dirt" wouldn't exist ifthere weren't an awful lot of dirt in this world. But is there as much as we think -- oreven as much as we need? And what's been happening to it? Dirt is the outer layerof the Earth and the place where nearly all the world's vegetation comes to life, butthe 20th Century was a bad time for dirt -- the rise of corporate farming practiceshave led to reliance of fertilizers with negative long-term effects on the soil, whileclear-cutting of rainforests and global warming are making it harder to grow thefood the world needs, making workable soil an increasingly scarce commodity.Filmmakers Bill Benenson and Gene Rosow offer a witty but incisive look at dirt, what's in it, how it's used and how we must protect it in the documentary Dirt! TheMovie. Adapted in part from the book Dirt! The Ecstatic Skin of Earth by WilliamBryant Logan, Dirt! The Movie received its world premiere at the 2009 SundanceFilm Festival.
Working to increase fruit and vegetable consumption in Manitowoc County, theFarm to School workgroup strives to connect farms and schools together and en-courage partnerships in procurement of fresh, local foods. Learn what we can doas a community to ensure positive changes continue at the local level.
The event is free and open to the public. Locally sourced popcorn from Garden ofWeedin will be provided. Award winning Apple Juice from Heritage Orchards willalso be served.
The six session series titled From the Ground Up! A Sustaining Life Perspectiveexplores the topic of local food, and the small changes we can make to have a bigimpact on childhood obesity. Book discussions, guest speakers and videos arescheduled the second Tuesday of each month through April at Woodland Dunes. All discussions begin at 6pm and promptly end at 7:30pm. For more informationplease contact Cath Pape, co-chair Manitowoc Farm to School at 920.652.0238.
