WORDS OF WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP “Sanctuary”

Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary pure and holy tried and true With thanksgiving I’ll be a living sanctuary for You. CCLI Song #24140; ©1982 Full Armor Publishing Company/Whole Armor Publishing Company; CCLI License #818662

GATHERING SONG “Resurrection Hymn”

1. See, what a morning, gloriously bright, with the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; Folded the grave clothes, tomb filled with light, as the angels announce Christ is risen! See God’s salvation plan, wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice, Fulfilled in Christ, the Man, for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

2. See Mary weeping, “Where is He laid?” As in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb; Hears a voice speaking, calling her name; It’s the Master, the Lord raise to life again! The voice that spans the years, speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us, Will sound till He appears, for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

3. One with the Father, Ancient of Days, through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty, Honor and blessing, glory and praise to the King crowned with power and authority. And we are raised with Him, death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered; And we shall reign with Him, for He lives: Christ is risen from the dead!

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, whose voice is upon the waters, whose mercy is poured

out upon all people, whose goodness cascades over all creation. Amen.

Let us confess our sin, trusting in the abundant grace of God. Holy God, you search us and know us. You are acquainted with all our ways. We confess that our hearts are burdened by sin—our own sins and the broken systems that bind us. We turn inward, failing to follow your outward way of love. We distrust those who are not like us. We exploit the earth and its resources and fail to consider generations to come. Forgive us, gracious God, for all we have done and left undone. Even before the words are on our tongues, you know them; receive them in your divine mercy. Amen.

How vast is God’s grace! Through the power and promise of ☩Christ Jesus, our sins are washed

away and we are claimed as God’s own beloved. Indeed, we are forgiven. In the wake of God’s forgiveness, we are called to be the beloved community living out Christ’s justice and the Spirit’s reconciling peace. Amen.

KYRIE HYMN #154

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy; have mercy, O Lord.

HYMN OF PRAISE “Blessing, Honor and Glory”

Blessing, honor, glory to the Lamb. Holy, righteous, worthy is the Lamb. Death could not hold him down, for he is risen! Seated upon the throne, he is the Lamb of God!

Blessing, honor, glory to the Lamb. Holy, righteous, worthy is the Lamb. Death could not hold him down, for he is risen! Seated upon the throne, he is the Lamb of God!

Blessing, honor, glory to the Lamb. Holy, righteous, worthy is the Lamb of God.

READING Judges 4:4-16 4At that time Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel. 5She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim; and the Israelites came up to her for judgment. 6She sent and summoned Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you, 'Go, take position at Mount Tabor, bringing ten thousand from the tribe of Naphtali and the tribe of Zebulun. 7I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin's army, to meet you by the Wadi Kishon with his chariots and his troops;

4

and I will give him into your hand.'" 8Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go." 9And she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh. 10Barak summoned Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and ten thousand warriors went up behind him; and Deborah went up with him. 11Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the other Kenites, that is, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had encamped as far away as Elon-bezaanannim, which is near Kedesh. 12When Sisera was told that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor, 13Sisera called out all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the troops who were with him, from Harosheth-ha-goiim to the Wadi Kishon. 14Then Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day on which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. The LORD is indeed going out before you." So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand warriors following him. 15And the LORD threw Sisera and all his chariots and all his army into a panic before Barak; Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot, 16while Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-ha-goiim. All the army of Sisera fell by the sword; no one was left.

Word of God, word of life. Thanks be to God.

MESSAGE “Deborah the Judge” Pr. Drew Bakken

1. There is a Redeemer Jesus, God’s own Son; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One.

Refrain Thank You, O my Father, for giving us Your Son, And leaving Your Spirit till the work on earth is done.

2. Jesus, my Redeemer, name above all names; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Hope for sinners slain.

3. When I stand in Glory, I will see His face; There I’ll serve my King forever in that holy place.

Melody Green; CCLI Song#11483©1982 Universal Music;CCLI License#818662

APOSTLE'S CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.

5

On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

BLESSING & BENEDICTION God the creator strengthen you; Jesus the beloved fill you; and the Holy Spirit the comforter ☩keep you in peace. Amen.

SENDING HYMN “Alleluia! Christ is Arisen!” HYMN #375

Refrain Alleluia! Christ is arisen. Bright is the dawning of the Lord’s day.

1. Run, faithful women, to the graveside. Marvel, the stone is rolled away! Hear from the angel, “He is risen.” Christ goes before you all the way.

2. Rise, Magdelana, from your weeping; Christ stands before your very eyes. Quickly return to the disciples; bear the good news: “He is alive.”

Please take time to quiet your hearts and minds as

you prepare yourself for worship tonight.

If you have questions about LCC, please feel free

to call Pastor Drew at 218-963-2564.

Dear Families with younger children: we enthusiastically welcome you and your growing

family to fully celebrate the worship service with us. Please relax. We understand that

God put the wiggle in children and we want them to feel welcome—it’s their church, too!

Be sure to participate in the service, as kids learn how to “do” church by watching you.

Quiet activity bags are available (are one-time use only, so take the bag and entire

contents home with you.) Talk about church at home and in the car and address any

curiosities children have. Finally, THANK YOU for joining us—we know it takes a lot of

hard work and effort to get here!

Creation Care Green Tip Submitted by Laura Raedeke and the Creation Care Team

Scientists at the U of M, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are finding that Northern Minnesota has some of the fastest warming rates in the contiguous U.S., which drives the warming and murkiness of lake waters. Warmer water encourages algae growth in late summer that can clog fish gills and starve fish of oxygen as it decays and sinks to the bottom of the lake. An ominous sign is the plunge in cisco (tullibee) populations that are a main food source for fish such as walleye. ONE OF THE MAIN SOLUTIONS is to protect the intact forests around deep, clear lakes that have been increasingly cleared for row crops, harvesting of timber, new homes, businesses and roads, and owners tinkering with shorelines. Healthy soils and forests help solve the climate crisis, so SUPPORT nonprofits such as the Northern Waters Land Trust (Walker, MN) that conserves and buys land outright on strategic tullibee refuge lakes in surrounding counties.

Phase 3 worship In-person worship Sunday Services are held in the Celebration Center at 9:00 am. Cross Kids Worship take place in the Sanctuary at 9:00am for children, Kindergarten through Grade 6. Preschoolers welcome with an adult. The 9:00 am service is streamed on our website and available to listen to on 87.9 FM from our parking lot. In person worship on Wednesdays at 6:20pm. Service will also be streamed on our website. Guidelines: Anyone entering our facility must sign in (non-members will

need to provide contact information) and everyone must wear a mask or face shield.

Drinking fountains will not be available, with the exception of the touchless dispenser near Chapel Hall (bring your own bottle.)

Restrooms use will be limited to those in SE corner of the building, near the Choir Room and Celebration Center.

Our Nursery will remain closed until further notice. Singing permitted with well fitting masks worn at all times.

ECOFAITH SUMMIT, Saturday, Apr 17 – “Now the Green Blade Rises: Storytelling for

the Healing of Creation.” Saturday Apr 17, 9:00am-12:30pm via Zoom. Small group breakout sessions provide the opportunity to react, dream, consider future actions and share. Along with worship, biblical and other stories, the purpose is to strengthen the grassroots movement among the People of God, to hear the cry of creation and heed God’s call to respond.
