LUMS Blazing a Trail in Pakistan and AsiaThe Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), established in 1985, is one of the largest and leading universities in Pakistan. Lahore – A Historic and Hospitable City Lahore is a diversified, pluralistic and peaceful city. The historical, cultural and educational capital of Pakistan is home to a population of 11 million. This city has a legacy and a history of more than a thousand years. As the heart of Punjab, influences from all past kingdoms and empires bleed into the present making for a rich, diverse and colourful city. Therefore, it is no surprise that Lahore has produced countless scholars, Nobel Laureates, poets, writers, intellectuals and scientists.

As the center of higher education in Pakistan; medical schools, universities, professional colleges and art schools can be found dotting the city landscape. Lahore has got modern transportation facilities, Wi-Fi hotspots, various sports stadiums, huge parks, swimming pools, malls and entertainment spots; all those facilities and luxuries that leading cities offer around the globe. The people of Lahore are friendly, generous and hospitable with a well-known zest for life. Not to mention the city’s dozens of food streets and hundreds of restaurants offering all sorts of indigenous, continental and fast foods.

From a security perspective, Lahore is one of the safest cities in Pakistan and operates under an integrated command, control and communication system that virtually guarantees public safety. In addition, security personnel in the city are always willing to guide and help during any sort of minor or major emergencies.

Student life at LUMS

Studying Resources The Gad and Birgit Rausing Library serves as a center for information and knowledge for the faculty, researchers and students with its wide-range of collections, dedicated staff, high-quality infrastructure and online services. It is open for anyone and everyone who seeks to benefit from this repository of knowledge.

DiningAt LUMS, we offer you many on campus dining choices. Let yourself go beyond books and lectures and enjoy the choices of eateries that LUMS has to offer. The Pepsi Dining Centre (PDC) is at the heart of the University and offers a diverse mix of meals and snacks at affordable prices but if you are up for something different, the University also offers many other food outlets serving a wide variety of cuisines to dine and unwind.

Staying FitThe pride and joy of the LUMS Community, the Syed Maratib Ali Sports Complex, houses the most modern male and female gymnasiums, four squash courts, an indoor basketball court, four badminton courts, and an indoor volleyball court. We also provide you with outdoor sports facilities, which include two volleyball courts, two tennis courts, a football ground and a cricket field. The LUMS Coca-Cola Aquatic Centre, an international standard indoor swimming pool built in line with FINA specifications (25 metres length), is operational throughout the year and is certified for national and international competitions.

The academic programmes offered at LUMS include undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degrees in various disciplines. All courses are taught in English and students have the freedom to explore their interests in a variety of subjects before choosing their majors. Our incoming exchange students are allowed to take courses offered by all schools provided that they will meet the prerequisites of the courses.

Eligibility for Undergraduate Exchange Programme1. Students must have proficiency in English. We rely on

our partner universities to nominate students who are fluent in English.

2. Successfully completed at least one year of education with good academic standing within a relevant field of studies at the home institution with proven leadership qualities.

NOC and VISA How to obtain a student visa?

Note: The international officer at LUMS will help you through every step of the process by dealing with your application on an individual basis and attaining the said documents within10-12 weeks for the issuance of your study visa.

Step One

Obtain a clearance/recommendation letter from your respective embassy

Step Two

Submit the clearance/recommendation letter from your respective embassy to the international office at LUMS

Step Three

Get a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) and Clearance from the Ministry of Interior (MOI), Pakistan

Step Four

Submit the NOC to the Pakistani Embassy/Consulate working in your country who will then issue a student visa to you

Application for ExchangeExchange partners nominate their selected students via email.All nominated students will receive an acceptance email/letter with the application instructions and practical information about the exchange program at LUMS. Students may complete the application form and send it back via email and courier along with the required documents as follows:

* The applicant is required to submit this document (E-copy & Courier) to us for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Higher Education Commission - Pakistan which is necessary for your security clearance from the Ministry of Interior – Pakistan, visa processing and enrollment at LUMS.

The e-copy is to be submitted at [email protected] and the original document is to be posted at Office of student Affairs, Lahore University of Management Sciences, DHA, Lahore Cantt. 54792, Lahore, Pakistan.

** This document is required by the Higher Education Commission – Pakistan for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

*** This form is needed to acquire necessary security clearance from the Ministry of Interior – Pakistan for your visa processing. You will forward us three copies of this form (complete in all respects) with six photographs and complete address through courier.
