THE MYSTERIES OF LIGHT
THE PREPARATORY PRAYERS
If the recitatio n of the Rosary is made as an act
of prayer for specific objects, these may bedeclared here or before the collect thatconcludes the Preparatory Prayers.
All make the Sign of the Cross with the crucifix,as the Leader begins,
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son,and of the Holy Ghost.Amen.
All say,
I BELIEVE in one God, the FatherAlmighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And
of all things visible and invisible;
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, theonly-begotten Son of God; Begotten of his
Father before all worlds, God of God,Light of Light, Very God of very God;
Begotten, not made; Being of onesubstance with the Father; By whom all
things were made; Who for us men and forour salvation came down from heaven,
And was incarnate of the Holy Ghost andthe Virgin Mary, And was made man; And
was crucified also for us under PontiusPilate; He suffered and was buried; And
the third day he rose again according to theScriptures: And ascended into heaven, And
sitteth on the right hand of the Father; And
he shall come again, with glory, to judgeboth the quick and the dead; Whose
kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the
Lord, and giver of Life, Who proceedethfrom the Father [and the Son]; Who with
the Father and the Son together is
worshipped and glorified; Who spake bythe prophets. And I believe one holy
Catholic and Apostolic Church; Iacknowledge one Baptism for the
remission of sins; And I look for the
Resurrection of the dead; And the Life ofthe world to come. Amen.
If preferred, the Apostles Creed may be usedinstead of the above:
I BELIEVE in God, the FatherAlmighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son
our Lord: Who was conceived by theHoly Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary:
Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Wascrucified, dead, and buried: He
descended into hell; The third day herose again from the dead: He ascended
into heaven, And sitteth on the righthand of God the Father Almighty:
From thence he shall come to judge thequick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost: Theholy Catholic Church; The Communionof Saints: The Forgiveness of sins: the
Resurrection of the body: And the lifeeverlasting. Amen.
On the first solitary bead, all pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed bethy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy willbe done, On earth as it is i n heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread. And forgive us
our trespasses, As we forgive those whotrespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, But deliver us from evil. Forthine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Here may be said:
O Mary, conceived without sin: Prayfor us who have recourse unto thee.
On the first small bead is said:
Hail Mary, full of grace: The Lord is with
thee. Blessed art thou among women, andblessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
who giveth us faith.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and in the hour of our death.Amen.
Or
Son of Mary, Son of the living God,have mercy upon us sinners, now and
in the hour of our death. Amen.On the second bead:
Hail Mary, full of grace: The Lord is withthee. Blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
who is our hope.
Holy Mary, Or Son of Mary,
On the third bead:
Hail Mary, full of grace: The Lord is withthee. Blessed art thou among women, and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus,
who loveth us with an everlasting love.
Holy Mary, Or Son of Mary,
On the chain:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and
to the Holy Ghost: As it was in the
beginning, is now and ever shall be, worldwithout end. Amen.
O, my Jesus, forgive us our sins; save usfrom the fires of hell; and bring all souls to
heaven, especially those most in need of t hymercy. Amen.
Let us pray. O God, whose only-begotten
Son, by his life, death, and resurrection, hath purchased unto us the rewards of life
eternal: Grant, we beseech thee, thatmeditating upon these mysteries of the
faith, we [together with those on behalf ofwhom we shall do so] may both imitate

THE CONCLUDING DEVOTIONS
SURGE,INLUMINARE
(Isaiah 60:1-3, 11a, 14c, 18-19)
Arise, shine; for thy light is come, * and the
glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, *and gross darkness the people:
But the LORD shall arise upon thee, * and his
glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, * and
kings to the brightness of thy rising. Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; *
they shall not be shut day nor night. They shall call thee; The city of the LORD, * the
Zion of the Holy One of Israel. The sun shall be no more thy light by day; *
neither for brightness shall the moon give
light unto thee:But the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting
light, * and thy God thy glory.Thy sun shall no more go down; * neither shall
thy moon withdraw itself:For the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, *
and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
