TAILOR-MADE GUIDED TOURS IN NORTHERN TUSCANY LUCCA ARTISAN WALK – on foot or by bicycle Our local expert guide Serena will take you around the historical center where silk merchants lived during the Renaissance and where Giacomo Puccini was born in the 19 th century. The tour will make several artisan and foodie stops (e.g. to taste the famous buccellato, Lucca’s sweet cake). Obviously there will also be time for visits to the most important civil and religious sights in Lucca’s beautiful historical town center. Being flat and traffic free, Lucca is a great place to explore on a saddle – even for kids (our guide can organize bike rental). VERSILIA: PUCCINI AND HIS LAKE A visit to Torre del Lago Puccini (on the inland lake not far from Viareggio on the Tuscan coast) is a must for opera lovers. Explore Giacomo Puccini’s villa and opera theater with a guided tour. After that Serena will take you on a relaxing boat trip with lunch stop at Villa Ginori Lisci, where Puccini wrote the Bohème in 1895.

GUIDED TOUR TO MICHELANGELO’S MARBLE QUARRIES

Explore Carrara’s world famous marble quarries. The Romans already extracted the precious

white stone in these mountains close to the Tuscan coast, and Michelangelo travelled to

Carrara to choose the best pieces in person. Ancient and modern day extraction techniques

will be explained and workshops of contemporary artists can be visited after the quarry. The

tour will also include a lunch or foodie stop to give you a taste of the area’s local specialities.
