An always-connected market The pluralities of market analysts (like Gartner) agree that by 2020, IoT devices will amount to 83% of all internetconnections.
By 2020, Cisco estimates there will be more than 50 billion devices connected to the Internet. By that time, computers(including PCs, tablets, and smartphones) will represent just 17 percent of all Internet connections; the other 83 percentwill result from IoT.
The rise of mobile computing, sensor technologies, 5G networks, and big dataanalytics are “pushing” the adoption of IoT solutions such as:
• Optimization systems called to increase the level of productivity;
• Gate automation systems able to share information about the goods, the Countryof arrival and the final destination.
• Tracking and Tracing systems able to provide real-time information about theposition and status of freight.

Circle has been technological partner of Leghorn Port Authority, within EU funded Project B2MOS. The purpose wassimplifying Customs procedures of a Ro-Ro traffic between the Maghreb region and Leghorn - within an International FastTrade Lanes scenario – by using passive RFID.
B2MOS Project: Truck preclearing in Leghorn
Private Actors Involved:• Port Terminals of Leghorn and Rades
• Importers
• Exporters
• Shipping Company - Cotunav
• Shipping Agency - Austral
• Freight Forwarders.
Public Institution Involved:
• Port Authorities of Livorno and Rades
• Italian Port Captaincy;
• Italian Customs Agency.

Car Export Project: Fast Export simplification
The project involved an exporttransport of new vehiclesbetween the production plantof south Italy and the ports ofSalerno and Civitavecchia, toreach their final destination inUSA.A fast export procedure byusing passive RFID tags andMILOS Fast Export connectorand PCS connector wasimplemented. Logistics andCustoms aspects were fullyintegrated.
MILOS IoT Platform
MILOS® IoT Platform allows authorized companies (shippers, logistics terminals, etc.) and Authorities (Port Authorities,Customs Administrations, etc.) to access status information of monitored freight units (such as containers, cars, trailers, etc.), matching logistics data with security information, supporting the related changes in business processes and theopportunities for process automation.
Corridor Management Platform
MILOS IoT Standard connectors
Platform which integratesinformation retrieved byMILOS IoT Mobile and otherexternal platforms
MILOS IoT Mobile
Mobile Software which allowsto interoperate with all IoTdevices (to read and writeinfo, to check security status, etc.)

MILOS IoT best practices: Trieste Port – Turkey corridor
The project aims to build aninteroperability fremework among thevarious stakeholders involved in the Ro-Rotraffic between the Port of Mersin and thePort of Trieste, by implementinginnovative IoT RFID eseals and GateAutomation solutions (IOT & OCR) andexploiting innovative Customs procedures.

MILOS IoT best practices: San Giorgio Terminal and CILP Industry 4.0 projects
Circle, as technological partner, supported San Giorgio Terminal in the following projects:• full integration of the terminal container information flows with Genoa Port Community System (e-Port) and
Shipping Agencies IT Systems
• complete automation of gate operations by implementing the MILOS Gate Automation module, thus increasingsignificantly gate in/out performance
• strong simplification by implementing the MILOS IOT module, applied to trucks
• digitalization of Customs register procedures by implementing MILOS eCustoms & Customs Registers modules.
Another important project is ongoing in CILP Leghorn, with IOT applied to cars and a full TOS implementation.
MILOS IoT: Benefits & savings
• Reduction of yard operators at terminal gates
• Increased check & security performance
• Reducted dwell time
• Extension of Terminal towards the international supply chain & alliances by exploiting – corridormanagement plaform (both maritime & inland)
• Simplified management of Maritime and Customs controls & activies
• Optimization of Terminal performances (move/hours; gate-in gate-out; etc.).
• 30% Average increase of performance.
The RFID component is designed specifically to monitor and manage the movement of trailers / containers /general cargo / cars that pass through it. It is able to monitor in a reliable and secure way the RFID e-sealsapplied to the containers that enter terminals, ports and depots, by taking an automatic accurate reading ofRFID tag, passive (battery free), active seals.
Additional integration with Milos IoT (1):the opportunity of eSeals Gate RFID automation
The MILOS Blockchain connector is designed specifically to exploit smart contracts opportunity and digitalizeidentity control, transport documents and supply chain actor flows (testing ongoing inside SmartLog Project, inside Scan-Med pilot project).
Additional integration with Milos IoT (2):blockchain smart contracts
Additional integration with Milos IoT (3)International Fast Trade Lane
Why it is important for the MED area:
Opportunities related to Fast Logistic and Customs corridors between EU and Extra-EU Countries:
• Providing services (Tracking and tracing, proof of delivery, etc.) to all stakeholders of the supply chain
• Reducing administrative burdens
• Speeding and concentrating Customs procedures
• Reducing time and costs on the full door-to-door chain

An enterprise spending 1million for instrumentalequipment can save 360thousand euros in five years ata tax level.
A draft investiment amount about € 1 million, considering average SUPER + IPER + R&D gives the opportunity to SAVE € 400.000
«Legge di Bilancio 2018» on pending approval will extend the tax reliefs related to «Super Ammortamento» and to «IperAmmortamento» to software. In particular, 40% of fiscal costs for software can be ammortised thanks to «SuperAmmortamento» and 150% of fiscal costs can be ammortised thanks to “Iper Ammortamento». These taxs reliefs are linkedto the the purchase or conversion of goods included inside the Industry 4.0. plan.
