Wireless Tablet Computing in the College Algebra
Classroom
Lamar University Pilot Project
Vision Statement
Based on Feedback from Students in College Algebra Course (Needs Assessment), LU Provost and Professor Dr. Stephen Doblin supported by Dr. Michael Dobe (CIO) Seeks Greater Mobility in College Algebra Classroom to Share Mathematics Equations with Students While Untethered from Computer Workstation at the Corner of a Large Lecture Hall. Dr. Doblin Also Seeks to Record and Share Equations Via Blackboard for Student Review.
Time and Scope
•Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 - 5:15 p.m. First class day is August 23 and last class day is December 8. There will be 30 class meetings.
•Projecting content wirelessly from tablet through a wireless VGA bridge to an Echo 360 appliance, which projects content onto screen from the tablet via overhead projector, records tablet content and uploads content on an automated schedule to LU's hosted Blackboard instance for students to review in Blackboard.
