GREEK COLLABORATIVELEARNING SPACEThe Greek Collaborative Learning Space is a resource provided by Greek Life that serves as a communal study space for all Greeks to meet and study together. The GCLS provides tutoring services and coordinates academic programs. A Greek Life Graduate Assistant works on site to provide one-on-one support for students in the space and directs those students to the appropriate resource that they may need. INTERFRATERNITY COUNCILThe Interfraternity Council continues to grow as IFC welcomes two new fraternities to campus this fall. Beta Theta Pi and Sigma Alpha Epsilon were chosen to colonize and recolonize, respectively, in an effort to diversify and expand the fraternal community. As apartofthefiveyearexpansionplan,AlphaTauOmegawasalsoselectedtojointheInterfraternityCouncilinspring2017.

Beta was founded in 1839 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and is dedicated to developing men of principle for a principled life. ForthefirsttimeinBeta’sstoriedhistory,itwillbeanorganizedfraternityoncampus.

With the addition of Beta, the 2015 IFC council also approved the recolonization of SAE to take place in the fall semester.

SAE was founded in 1856 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarshipandservice.SAEwasthefirstestablishedfraternityonLSU’scampuswhenitsLouisianaEpsilonchapteropenedin1867.

IFC is excited about the addition of the two fraternities on campus and looks forward to welcoming ATO in spring 2017. All three of the organizations have tremendous national and alumni support which will allow them to thrive in our fraternal community at LSU.

PHI KAPPA PSI ACCREDITATIONForthefirsttimeintheir49yearhistoryonLSU’scampus,theLouisianaAlphachapterofPhiKappaPsiwasrecognizedwithaperfect score on their accreditation submission and received distinguished honors at the Woodrow Wilson Leadership Conference in Omaha, Nebraska this summer. The Louisiana Alpha chapter was among three chapters that received this achievement.Congratulations, Phi Psi!

GREEK TIGERTheGreekTigeristheofficialLSUGreekLifepublicationmailedtoallincomingfreshmenandtransfer students. A useful and informative guide to fraternity and sorority life at LSU, the Greek Tiger has become the trusted resource for potential members who rely on the book for insight on Recruitment and Intake at LSU. Each Greek organization has a full page article with photos and information such as honors and awards received, founding information and the chapter GPA. Chapter presidents are tasked with submitting photos and revising the content featured on their chapter page. All Greek Tiger photos and text edits for the 2016 Greek Tiger are due to Greek Life on Sept. 11.

HOMECOMING 2015:LSU Homecoming 2015 is quickly approaching and the Greek community is preparing for all the traditionalHomecoming festivities. The LSU Tigers will play the Western KentuckyHilltoppersinTigerStadiumonOctober24intheHomecoming game, and the Greek community is embracing thisyear’sthemeof“LettheGoodTimesRoar.”LSUGreekorganizationswillbepairedtoparticipateinfielddaygames,knownasthe“GreekOlympics”onWednesdayOct.21ontheURECfields.Thosesamepairingswillparticipateinalawn decoration contest, where groups construct and decorate structuresthatembody“LettingtheGoodTimesRoar.”Familyand friends are encouraged to take a stroll down Sorority Row to view the decorations before the big game. Perhaps most importantly, the Greek community will participate in the annual CANapaloozafundraiser,anexcitingserviceopportunitybenefittingtheBatonRougeFoodBank.TheLSUandBatonRougecommunities come together to collect thousands of canned goods which are used to build a replica of Tiger Stadium and of Mike theTiger’sHabitatontheParadeGrounds.
