BBC SINGERS The BBC Singers perform a recital of choral music inspired by the timeless words of Shakespeare, led by their music director David Hill. Including works by Vaughan Williams, Kodály, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, Paul Mealor and the world premiere of Cecilia MCDowall’s When Time is Broke.

BEETHOVEN SYMPHONY NO 9 Choral Singing Days offer a unique opportunity to get to grips with iconic choral masterworks under the direction of award-winning LSO Choral Director Simon Halsey.

Spend the day singing the finale of Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony ahead of the Orchestra’s own performance. Members of the London Symphony Chorus will be on hand to help you find your notes, but some sight-singing ability is recommended.

Sat 14 May 2016 10.30am–4.30pm LSO OPEN SINGING DAY

JAZZAMATAZZ! Open Singing Days are suitable for singers of all abilities, whether you sing regularly in a choir or have never sung before. Our experienced conductor David Lawrence will guide you through a day singing great jazz choral arrangements. In the afternoon the session will be accompanied by a jazz trio.

Choral and Open Singing Days are accompanied by either piano or a small instrumental ensemble.

Sing with the LSCThe London Symphony Chorus was formed in 1966 to complement the work of the London Symphony Orchestra and this season marks its 50th anniversary.

The LSC has partnered many other major orchestras and has performed nationally and internationally with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. The chorus has toured extensively throughout Europe and has also visited North America, Israel, Australia and South East Asia.

In the 2015/16 season highlights include Haydn’s The Seasons with Sir Simon Rattle; Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with Sir Mark Elder; and the world premiere of a new opera, The Hogboon, by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.
