Course Overview and Objectives

Popular Pediatric Clinical Topics 2008 will focus on currentmanagement strategies for a variety of clinical issues in thesubspecialty areas of adolescent medicine, dermatology,endocrinology, ENT, GI/nutrition, neurology and pulmonarymedicine. These selected areas have been identified by pastconference participants as of particular importance to dailypediatric practice and to patient care.

A key objective is to provide participants with the opportunity todiscuss practice dilemmas with the expert faculty.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:• Discuss current diagnosis and treatment strategies for various pediatric diseases and

disorders including chronic cough, stridor, ankyloglossia, seizures, allergic contactdermatitis, celiac disease, insulin resistance, and neonatal skin disorders.

• Summarize return to play guidelines after head trauma.

• Differentiate tics from Tourettes syndrome in children.

• Recognize pediatric dermatology emergencies, GI manifestations of food allergies,medical complications of eating disorders, and indications for use of growth hormone.

• Apply enhanced knowledge in communication with adolescents and in pediatricnutrition support.

• Describe current trends in the management of pediatric sleep apnea, bronchiolitis, type 1 diabetes mellitus, asthma, and STDs in adolescents.

Who should attend?This conference is designed for pediatricians, family practice physicians, nursepractitioners, nurses and interested allied health practitioners who provide care for infants,children and adolescents.
