PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Programs and services offered by the College of Business will leaveyou AWAKENED, ENLIGHTENED, and TRANSFORMED.

Business Portfolio Program—Creating Learning Portfolios for SuccessThe Business Portfolio Program is a student-centered professional developmentprogram that helps students identify personal strengths and career interests. Theseries of eight required courses gives students the necessary career developmentskills and resources to successfully compete in the job market while also helpingthem to transition to the workplace. Starting in their first year, students focus onexploring various industries and possible career opportunities with businessprofessionals through the program’s Executive Mentor Program.

Throughout the four years, students will receive one-on-one individualized careercounseling on resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and internships. Seniors areeligible to participate in the Portfolio Executive Network where they will bematched with a business professional in their particular area of interest who willcoach them through their job search.

Student-managed Investment Fund/Carlos Ayala Stock Trading Room With funds from the estate of Mr. Carlos Ayala ’57, the student-managed investmentfund taught by Dr. Ron Christner now has $1 million in its securities portfolio. Theinvestment class provides students with the opportunity to sharpen and apply theircritical thinking skills to real-world investment experience.

Also as a result of Mr. Ayala’s generous bequest, College of Business finance studentswill have access to a state-of-the-art stock trading room, currently under constructionin Miller Hall. The new trading room will open fall 2012 and will include the RatheComputer Lab, available to all College of Business students.

Study AbroadThe College of Business offers three outstanding study abroad programs: Europeand China in the summer, and South America in the winter. Each allows students toexplore international business culture by engaging with business leaders in foreignmarkets. Many other study abroad opportunities are available through Loyola’sCenter for International Studies.

Center for Spiritual CapitalThe Center for Spiritual Capital is a research, education, and outreach organizationthat works with business scholars, policy experts, and leaders to connect academiclearning and real-world experience. The center promotes the search for new ethicalnorms in economic relationships through exploration of issues of spiritual capital.

MBA Program Loyola’s MBA program inspires leaders who employ the value-creation model ofbusiness through systems thinking, critical analysis, effective business practices, andresponsible actions with a global perspective. The program emphasizes three keyelements: business ethics, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The program allows forboth full- and part-time enrollment.

• Jiad Alqotob ’12 (accounting) is attending the University of Oxford, London,England, pursuing a master of science degree in financial economics throughthe Said Business School.

• John McCann ’12 (marketing) has launched a clothing line, E.R.O.S. (EverybodyRises Over Struggles) in the New Orleans market with plans to take the linenational.

• Suzanne Sainato, M.B.A. ’12, was named VP and chief compliance officer forSymetra Life Insurance at their corporate office in Bellevue, Washington.

• Dennis Lauscha, M.B.A. ’93, was named president of the NFL New OrleansSaints and NBA New Orleans Hornets teams after 15 years with the Saintsorganization. Lauscha maintains a role in the management of New Orleans Foxaffiliate, WVUE.

• The Loyola Student Chapter of the American Marketing Association wasawarded the Outstanding Membership Award at the 34th Annual AMACollegiate Chapter Conference. Dr. Mike Pearson of the CoB was awarded theAMA Lifetime Achievement Award.
