By Matt Kehrer, Coordinator of Youth Ministry & Confirmation If you ask a young kid what they want to be when they grow up, they typically want to do something heroic and good for the world. As the school year wraps up, we have many graduating seniors with big dreams and aspirations to go make a difference in the world. I had the same desire to go change the world when I graduated but I had no idea how to get there and figuring it out took a long time. Making a difference in the world isn’t all about the big or important things but embracing the gift of each day. Every single day matters. The small choices we make each day determine the growth we will see in our lives and the im- pact that we will have on others. I have learned that the smallest action is greater than the big- gest intention. Pray that prayer, ask for help, send that thank-you note, and call that person to say you’re sorry. Sometimes saying thank-you or I’m sorry can make all the difference in the world and point others to Christ. I encourage you to be intentional each day about something that you would like to change. I hope you find courage to try something new this summer and watch where it takes you and see the difference it makes. As for me, I think this quote from Cause of Christ by Kari Jobe sums up the difference I hope to make in the world: “It is not fame that I desire, nor stature in my broth- er’s eye. I pray it’s said about my life that I lived more to build your name than mine.”

How can I make a difference? By Matt Kehrer, Coordinator of Youth Ministry & Confirmation

If you ask a young kid what they want to be when they grow up, they typically want to do something heroic and good for the world.

The small choices we make each day determine the growth we will see in our lives and the im-pact that we will have on others. I have learned that the smallest action is greater than the big-gest intention.

As for me, I think this quote from Cause of Christ by Kari Jobe sums up the difference I hope to make in the world: “It is not fame that I desire, nor stature in my broth-er’s eye. STEWARDS AT WORK

FOR THE ADULTS…

WOMEN’S BRUNCH: Saturday, June 2, 10:00 AM—Noon, at Norwegian Woods, a bed and breakfast 4 miles south of Princeton. Enjoy a beautiful place with good food and lovely people. Cost is $15.00. Sign up online or in the entrance of the church. Contact Molly Weyrens, Pastoral Associate, for details.

BOOK READ: Adults and youth entering eighth grade and older, are invited to read the book, “Enrique's Journey,” which recounts the unforgettable quest of a Honduran boy looking for his mother, eleven years after she is forced to leave her starving family to find work in the United States. Braving unimaginable peril, Enrique travels through hostile worlds full of thugs, bandits, and corrupt cops. Yet he pushes forward, relying on his wit, courage, hope, and the kindness of strangers. As Isabel Allende writes, “This is a twenty-first-century Odyssey. If you are going to read only one non-fiction book this year, it has to be this one.” Purchase the book yourself and sign up for the discussion on Wednesday, June 27, 6:30—8:00 PM at the COL-North Youth House. Contact Kathy Roy at [email protected] for more information. Parents and youth, please share this event.

SPIRITED SERIES: July 10—August 1

This TED Talk viewing and discussion series to be offered Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:00 PM at COL-North, and Wednesday mornings, 9:00—10:30 AM at COL-South.

WOMEN’S BWCA CANOE TRIP: July 19-23, experience a scenic route through a section of the Boundary Waters canoe area wilderness, paddling, portaging, praying and camping along the way. Everyone chips in and helps during the trip. This is for those who have paddled a lot and those who have never done this kind of thing before. Expect to paddle 3-5 miles a day, pack light, and gear up for adventure amidst the beauty of our Creator. Details, registration forms, fees, and packing lists are available on the parish website and in the main entrances of church. Please register by June 15. Contact Molly Weyrens, Pastoral Associate, with any questions.

FOR THE CHILDREN… VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Get ready for an adventure to an uncharted island where kids are rescued by Jesus. This experience will be one where kids are anchored in the truth that Jesus carries them through life's storms. Mark your calendars to join us July 29—August 2, 2018, for evening VBS, 5:00—7:30 PM at COL-South. Details and registration are now available online and in the kiosks at both parish locations.

FAITH FORMATION / YOUTH MINISTRY

SILVER SPIRIT: Our next outing is Sunday, June 10, for Music in the Park at Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud. For more information about this 60+ group, contact Elaine Schultz at [email protected] or 612-202-9556. Tentative plans are to carpool from both COL-North and COL-South at 1:30 PM.

FINANCIAL OUTREACH: COL has two funds that offer financial assistance: one is for COL parishioners, and the other is for non-parishioners. In the past month, we have been able to help people with rental assistance, electric bills, and propane gas services, car insurance, and lodging. Thank you for your support of these important ministries.
