Practical Tips and Advice
How many £££ have you invested in food
in your kitchen ?
£30 £50
£150
£100 £80
£125 £200 £300
Take a considered guess about how
much money you have spent on the
food stored in your kitchen cupboards,
fridge and freezer ? Then go home
and really count it all up….
Keeping a food diary
• A good starting point to help us identify
if we can make savings / reduce waste
• Reveals patterns and may help us
target our efforts at the most effective
means of changing our behaviour.
Activities
Lovely leftovers
It pays to plan
Know your dates
Savvy storage
The freezer is your friend
Fresher for longer
Perfect portions
Making the most of the food and drink you
buy and grow
To summarise ….
Check with your local council for more details on your
local service
What are others doing?
The Hospitality and Food Service
Agreement (HaFS)?
A voluntary agreement between WRAP and the
HaFS industry to support the sector in reducing
waste and recycling more
Recommendations
Smaller portion sizes for lower price – choice of
portion sizes
Menu choice – swap chips for potatoes, salad for
vegetables etc.
Staff training – train front of house staff so they
can talk to customers with confidence
