Production

Directed by Richard Curtis who in May 2007 received the BAFTA Fellowship at the British Academy Television Awards in recognition of his successful career in film and television.

The production of the film involved a lot of people, working on the music, art, editing, script writing, costume design, sounds, special effects, stunts, cameras.

Most of the movie was filmed on location in London, at sites including Trafalgar Square, the central court of Somerset House in the Strand, Grosvenor Chapel on South Audley Street near Hyde Park and many more.

The film was marketed well through the process of TV and poster advertising, cinema trailers, tie-in film script, etc.

One of the reasons that Love Actually was such a well sold film was because of the amount of famous A-actors, such as:

Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Laura Linney, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Martine McCutcheon, Bill Nighy and Rowan Atkinson.

Distribution

Love Actually was first released in cinema in November 2003. The Soundtrack was also released in November 2003.Released on DVD in March 2004.In the US, the film was not released until November 2009.

Exhibition

Unusually, the first world premiere of the film came out on Sept 6 2003 Toronto, Canada. Later followed by premieres in Madrid, Rome, Brussel, New York and Munich before finally coming out in the UK on the 16th November 2003 in London, which was then followed by its last premiere in Paris.

Upon its release, the film received generally positive reviews in Britain and Reviews in the United States were mixed, with the film receiving an average rating of 55 out of 100.

Overall the Working Titles Films took a worldwide total of $247,472,278.
