Assembly Item with 1M

1M put on a wonderful performance at last

week’s assembly with a musical item of The

William Tell Overture. All the children put in a

great effort and enjoyed themselves.

Please ensure your children are bringing healthy

food and beverage choices to school as it helps

with their learning and concentration in the

class. Sugary items do affect the children’s

behaviour so it would be greatly appreciated if

they could be saved for when they are at home.

Soft drinks and cordial in their drink bottles

should also be an after school treat.

Birthday Celebrations

From time to time children bring in special

treats for their class to help celebrate their

birthday. If you bake a cake could you kindly

write the ingredients down as we have

children with allergies.

Cupcakes are a great way to share around

the class as sometimes cutting a cake can

get very messy for the teachers and children.

Any small individual item is an easy way for

the birthday child to pass the treats around.

The children love celebrating their birthday

so let’s make it as easy as possible.

The children were able to consolidate their learning about

the early settlement of Australia which they have been

studying in class. Each child was given the identity of a

convict, early settler, soldier or governor and given

appropriate costumes to wear on the tour.

Following this we ate lunch at First Fleet Park and then

boarded a ferry from Circular Quay to Cockatoo Island.

On arrival we explored the island with a guide who

explained the significance of Cockatoo Island in

Australia’s history. Later that evening we enjoyed the

spectacle of the city lights.

A night of camping in semi-permanent tents had us

well rested in preparation for Taronga Zoo the next

day. Being in the front row at the seal show had its

disadvantages, i.e. getting wet, but one very lucky

student was chosen to pat and shake hands with a

seal. Members of the public commented on the

wonderful behaviour exhibited by our students at the

Zoo.

What a fabulous experience for all!

Thank you to the staff and parents involved in making

this such a fantastic excursion.

What a fabulous parade we had with some

amazing costumes worn by students and

teachers. The characters they represented

brought the books alive.
