Photo viewing and organising software
Design a photo viewing and organising software that solely works on date & time information available in digital photographs. The proposed design should have a good photo viewing experience, and should also be easy to find photos

SENSE INTENTLets consider the changing world around us
Where is the world moving? In which area of people’s changing life patterns will our innovation fit in? Studied the trends causing change in the current photography ecosystem - Technology, business, culture, people, markets, and the economy.

Time consuming: Spend so many hours going those printed album that has never been touched in decades or browse folders in your system and search each and every folder for the desired photo.
Adding a location, face, words can make your search easy
Cross channel experience. People will be connected to their mobiles 24(7). search key words, browse categories.
Sharing requests took lot of our time/ bandwidth. Hunting for photos, Emailing, pen drives etc. A lot of delay in sharing
Photo sharing has become so much easier these days, with numerous options, a number of different social media sites and apps. But sharing photos can have a flip-side
Culture of openness & sharing in the community. Easier for us, easier for them, increased whuffie/ connection
Separate photo libraries, but with numerous connections to other library. Have control over who sees what. More bang for our buck
Computer is synced to cloud, you’ll have access to your photos stored in the library and
Separate photo libraries with little sharing. Didn’t know what was in each other’s library. took more time to get hi-rez versions

Digital cameras, especially smartphones, entice us to click photos
faster Internet in many homes and on phones and the technology to secure and access gigabytes of personal data on the go.
Cross channel experience. with connecting and sharing from- to any device and platform
Most of the photo organising systems have complex and less intuitive interfaces
A platform to not only find lost photos, but also help you rediscover them through various ways- timeline, face identification and maps etc
All these moments we capture seem to vanish into a digital Bermuda Triangle
Create simplest tool to store and edit your library. Instant distribution of photos
Many apps but none of those are good at the ugly business of gathering up and getting all of your photos sorted.

INSIGHTS
01 People want a simple answer to all their photo managing issues.
02 People want others to know what’s happening in their life
03 Instant distribution and gratification of photos
05 Now days mobiles have become an essential part of our lives
04 Sharing status with photos
Following is some of the insights I derived from the my understanding of the photo ecosystem & trends I noticed in my research.
KNOW PEOPLEUnderstanding surrounding conditions along with people’s needs and patterns
Focus on empathy by observing and knowing the customer.
Is a click-and-go kind of photographer.

“Sometimes I’ll take photos. Share them. Look back on them. But it has to be easy—managing my life can’t get in the way of me living it.”
Nitish Meena
• A single place for everything—He stores different sets of photos across different services, and he often forgets what is stored on where.
• Convenient security—He’s a casual user who doesn’t transfer or back up his photos at every new album, but he wants to know his photos are safe in the event of any hardware malfunctions/theft.
• An easy way to share—Jared takes pictures to share memories with friends and family, some of whom are less tech-savvy. When Dropbox requires recipients to download the app, he gets frustrated with on-boarding his aunt to Dropbox over the phone.
• Organisation—After a week of adventures, Jared dumps batches of photos into his libraries, often without any effort in organising them. He finds his resulting library time-consuming to view and sort through.
• People want some thing where it is easy to locate files
• Something that will help in the back-up of the endless photos we click today and at the same time they want the control of what goes where.
• One place for all their needs
Insights from the understanding the user “Where is that photo”?
“Oh God! Where should I start with…. This is so tedious”?
“Alright…today i am going to organise this photo mess”.
“After some hours…..Let it be…..I can do this”?
INSIGHTS- From understanding user
My understanding suggests that the tasks a user wants to accomplish with the proposed solution would be upload all photos to a single place, Browse & arrange photos & search photos
FRAME INSIGHTSExtracting key insights and converging to principles
Distill research into handful of key insights, and then turn them into concise, actionable principles.
INSIGHTSGathering all the insights and generating guiding principles

EXPLORE CONCEPTSInto the world of possibilities
Exploring concepts is to be creative and open to new , perhaps radical ideas and ways of thinking keeping in mind human centred and concept driven principles for success.
Add keywords Adding keywords and tags (or titles
and descriptions) that describe what’s in the photo.
Viewing pictures See pictures on a timeline or location based view, or even may be based on tags, facesetc
Convenient security The private albums are secure. Nobody can access them.
IDEATION
Delete duplicate photos
Favourite Favourite photos and keep
them aside
Recent uploads All the recently uploaded pictures
together
Tag Photos Using naming conventions like which
categories is this picture, School/college, family, location, name of file
Creating sets & collections
Intuitive filters Filters like time filters that can get you the exact picture you have been looking for.
Make it Social
Single place for everything Importing all images not just from computer but from facebook, instagram, Flicker etc
CONCEPTS
1. Tagging wherever possible
• Organisation by tagging should be done in way that user doesn’t get to know about it or spend time doing it himself.
• Most of the time photo’s have time and location data, the photo organisation tool can use it and reflect that to the user. User should able to access his photo based on tags such as what time of the day was the picture clicked, Clicked between which dates, or which month
• Another way to semi-automate tagging is to pre - schedule tags. Allowing users to pre-tag photos based on time and location. I could, for example, tag all photos I will take tonight as ‘My birthday bash’ or all of next week’s photos as ‘Mumbai trip’.
CONCEPTS
3. Filter your search
• Making albums out of your memories. Filter out your pictures based day, date and time . • There’s no use in this system if it’s not easy to share, whether on a social network, in a living room, or to
a friend at a restaurant. It should be dead simple to share collections of photos created on the fly with a quick search phrase.
2. Smart searching
• One should be able to enter tags into a search bar. Tagging implemented in such a way that it shows smart, natural language searches, such as: Photos of John and Sara on Wedding 2015 Photos of the John with family in 2016
All this along with manually adding tags by assigning multiple tags to a photo
• Going down the memory lane in the order your created them could be interesting. A timeline where you can go down one by one and browse through the memories you have made.
