I’ve learned to appreciate the old saying “Life begins at 40;” although, I now wonder if 50 is the new 40? In any event, next year is River City Bank’s 40th birthday, and it will be a great honor to celebrate the 40th birthday of the Bank as its president. Turning 40 is one of the key psychological milestones in a person’s life. We often evaluate who we are and where we want our journey to take us. The same can be said for leading a business organization through a pivotal milestone. It’s a journey filled with lessons, hardships, heartaches, joys, celebrations and special moments that will ultimately lead us to our destination, our purpose. The road will not always be smooth; in fact, throughout the process, we will encounter many challenges. We experience sometimes difficult and sometimes remarkable moments, which make us who we are today. We work to build lifelong relationships, and when we reach maturity we’ve created a solid “brand” name in the market. Reaching 40 is cause for commemoration. A way of expressing, “we are in it for the long- term.” What an exciting chapter! It started in 1972 for River City Bank, by a visionary named Jon S. Kelly who saw a need for a Sacramento-based community bank. He drafted an idea on the back of a napkin at Frank Fat’s restaurant, rallied a core group of community leaders, and opened the doors for business in 1973. Jon then continued to kindle his entrepreneurial spirit by fostering bank innovations. In the 1970’s River City Bank started Saturday banking and some of the first drive through lanes in the state. By the 1980’s we saw our first Automated Teller Machine (ATM), and in the 1990’s Internet Banking was launched. The innovations didn’t stop there. River City Bank has a technology platform today that is every bit as good as that which is offered by the biggest banks, and we plan to continue leveraging our prowess on our 40th birthday and beyond. Every innovation enhances our lifelong relationship with you, our clients, and builds a brand that no other community bank can rival. Please, stay tuned for more information regarding our future product launches. You won’t be disappointed. “Turning 40 is one of the key psychological milestones in a person’s life. We often evaluate who we are and where we want our journey to take us.” As River City Bank turns 40, we embark on our next great adventure. Our goal remains the same, covet our clients and provide them with the exceptional experiences. I, and all of the staff at River City Bank, thank you for your support through the years and look forward to serving you for many more to come! n Looking Forward to Turning 40 IN HONOR OF OUR VALUED CLIENTS, RIVER CITY BANK HAS MADE A GENEROUS DONATION TO EASTER SEALS.
