If you would like to knit this hood, you will need the following materials:350 g (7 skeins) Schachenmayr original Lova in grey-yellow spot color 00080. Circular knitting needle US size 11 (8 mm) 24 inches (60 cm) long.1 Schachenmayr original pompon in neon yellow color 00022.Tapestry needle.

The following stitch patterns will be used for the hood:

Selvage stitches: Work the first 3 and last 3 stitches of every row as follows: Knit the first 3 and last 3 sts of every right side row, and slip the first 3 and last 3 sts of every wrong side row with the yarn in front of the work.

Brioche stitch in rows: Row 1 (right side): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with the yarn in front of the work, * k1, p1; repeat from * to last stitch, k1.Row 2 (wrong side): 3 selvage stitches, * slip 1 and yarn over (yo), p1; repeat from * to the last 3 stitches, 3 selvage stitches.Row 3: 3 selvage stitches, * slip 1 and yo, purl together the yo and slipped stitch from the previous row; repeat from * to the last 3 stitches, 3 selvage stitches.Repeat Row 3 throughout.

Brioche stitch in rounds:Round 1: Slip 1 and yo, k1, slip 1 and yo, *knit together the yo and slipped st from the previous round, slip 1 and yo; repeat from * to last 3 sts, k1, slip 1 and yo, knit 1.Round 2: Purl together the yo and slipped stitch

from the previous round, slip 1 and yo; repeat from * around.Round 3: * Slip 1 and yo, knit together yo and slipped stitch from the previous round; repeat from * aroundRepeat rounds 2 and 3 for the pattern.

Gauge: 10 stitches and 24 rows with US size 11 (8 mm) needles in brioche stitch = 4 inches (10 cm).

Now you can get started! Follow these instructions: Cast on 64 stitches. Do not join. Work brioche stitch in rows, with 3 selvage stitches at each end until piece measures about 4 inches (10 cm) from cast-on edge, end with a right side row, do not turn.

Place a marker for the beginning of the round, and to work in rounds. Work brioche stitch in rounds until piece measures 7 7/8 inches (20 cm) from cast-on edge.Divide work and continue in brioche stitch in rows as before until piece measures 21¼ inches (54 cm) from cast-on edge, end with a wrong side row. Place a marker at the center of the row.Next [dec] row: Work to 2 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, slip 1, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over, then work to the end = 62 stitches.Next row: Work t1 stitch before the marker, purl 2, work to the end.Repeat the last 2 rows 5 more times = 52 stitches.Divide the stitches at the center of the row with 26 stitches on each needle, and so that both needle tips face the same direction when the work is folded at the center of the row. Hold both needles together with the right sides of the work together (wrong sides of work show on the outside), and with a spare needle, knit together the first stitch on both needles, * knit together 1 stitch from both needles, lift the first stitch over the 2nd stitch and off the needle to bind off 1 stitch; repeat from * to the end of the row.Cut yarn and fasten off the remaining stitch. Weave in all ends. Sew pompom to tip of hood.
