London

Some basic facts...

London is the capital city of England and also of the United Kingdom. It is the biggest city in Europe. London has got an area of about 1,600 square kilometres and its population is about 7.5 million. The River Thames runs through the city.

Where to go...

There are many places to visit in London. Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament are all very popular with tourists. Other famous sights are the London Eye, Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral.

What to do...

You can do many interesting things in London. It has got many wonderful museums to visit, such as the British Museum and the National History Museum. There are some great theatres, too, and many of them are in the city's West End. You can see excellent dramas, comedies and musicals.

Who's from London...

London is also home to many famous people. The actor Daniel Radcliffe was born there, as well as the singer Adele and the football player David Beckham.
