Callum Smart attracted wide public attention at the age of thirteen having won the strings category of the 2010 BBC Young Musicians Competition performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Vasily Petrenko. Also in 2010, Callum became the top European prize-winner in the Menuhin Competition in Oslo. He has since appeared at a number of European festivals including the Dvorak Festival in Prague and the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad. In March 2016 he gave recital performances in Birmingham, London’s Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin and the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris.

Last season Callum made his Royal Festival Hall debut with the Philharmonia under Michael Collins. Previous concerto appearances include venues such as Cadogan Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, London and performances with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the European Union Chamber Orchestra. In 2014 Callum released his first recital disc which was met with critical acclaim. Described by the BBC Music Magazine as ‘an exuberantly assured debut’ the recording received 4 stars. He was also named as a BBC Music Magazine Rising Star: Great Artists of Tomorrow. His second disc, featuring Fauré, Poulenc and Ravel with Richard Uttley, was released in March 2016.

Richard Uttley has been recognised for his ‘musical intelligence and pristine facility’ (International Record Review), ‘amazing decisiveness … tumultuous performance’ (Ivan Hewett, The Daily Telegraph), and featured as a Rising Star in BBC Music Magazine. He has given solo recitals or played concertos in the UK’s major halls, and his playing is frequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Richard read Music at Cambridge, graduating with a Double First in 2008. He studied piano with Martin Roscoe at the Guildhall School. He was selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) in 2011. Last season Richard released his third CD, Ghosts & Mirrors, to critical acclaim; appeared at Cheltenham, Beaminster and Manchester International Festivals; as well solo recitals in Bridgewater Hall, Wigmore Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin and the Auditorium du Louvre.

The Sainsbury Royal Academy Soloists are the Academy’s elite string ensemble, with a deserved reputation for performing to the highest standard. The group’s players are selected annually from top undergraduate and postgraduate students. Their CD of music by Strauss and Schoenberg was praised by International Record Review in September 2005: ‘This disc will be welcomed with open arms by readers with fond memories of student music-making at the Royal Academy of Music. The programme is logical, the playing expert and the design first-rate... The tensile strength of the Royal Academy Soloists should attract those keen to abandon the familiar berth of Karajan-inspired smoothness for choppier seas.’ The Soloists perform regularly at the Academy and at festivals around Britain.

Clio Gould enjoys a varied career as a violinist and performs as soloist, director and leader throughout Britain and Europe. She made her BBC Proms concerto debut in 1999 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and has made concerto appearances with the London

Sinfonietta, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Hallé Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

In 2002 Clio was appointed leader of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, becoming the first female leader of a symphony orchestra in London. She held the position of Artistic Director of the Scottish Ensemble (1993–2005) and was Principal Violin of the London Sinfonietta (1996–2010). Clio plays the

‘Rutson’ Stradivarius of 1694, which has generously been lent to her by the Royal Academy of Music, where she regularly directs the Sainsbury Royal Academy Soloists. In 1999 she was awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music.

London Conchord Ensemble is one of Europe’s leading chamber ensembles. Their imaginative and highly original programming has won them many accolades over the years, and in 2013 they celebrated their 10th anniversary with a BBC Chamber Music Prom at Cadogan Hall.

Highlights of recent seasons include performances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Wigmore Hall, Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Dusseldorf Tonhalle, Brussels Palais des Beaux Arts, Library of Congress in Washington D.C., and tours of Germany, France and America. Last year the group launched their own festival - an annual weekend of world-class performances and international artists. In 2016, Conchord Festival takes up residence on the banks of the River Thames in Twickenham.

The ensemble enjoys regular collaborations with guest singers, and their concerts in the Schleswig Holstein, Windsor, Newbury, Winchester and Chelsea Festivals have included Dame Felicity Lott, Susan Bickley, Andrew Kennedy, James Gilchrist and Katherine Broderick.

The London Conchord Ensemble has been ensemble-in-residence at Champs Hill, Sussex, where the group has recorded much of its discography. They have also recorded on the Sanctuary Classics/ASV, Black Box and Quartz labels. Their latest Champs Hill recording – a double disc exploring the complete chamber works of Francis Poulenc - was released to great critical acclaim in February 2012. The ensemble’s most recent project is a double CD in its ongoing “cities” series, concentrating on Vienna, to be released later this year. It consists of Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio and Quintet for Piano and Winds, Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds and chamber music by Zemlinsky, Berg and Schoenberg.

Chamber Music New Zealand has invited London Conchord Ensemble to tour the islands in the autumn of 2016, as part of their International Concert Season ‘Kaleidoscopes’. Presenting three different programmes across ten venues, the group will perform in Auckland, Hamilton, New Plymouth, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.

Sarah-Jane Bradley is delighted to be Co-Artistic Director of “sound collective”, along with conductor Tom Hammond.

“Sound Collective” comprises a group of exceptional musicians who share the ethos of aiming for exceptional performance standards, allied with innovative ways of communicating their passion for classical music with audiences. Working with composers, writers and education, sound collective devises projects focusing on excellence, innovation and communication, along with imaginative programming.

The chamber players are drawn from previously longstanding collaborations, and include John Lenehan (piano), Sara Trickey (violin), Sarah-Jane Bradley (viola), Tim Lowe (cello), and Daniel Bates (oboe).Concerts for the 2016/2017 season include appearances at the Lichfield and Ripon International Festivals, London King’s Place and Scotland.

Since forming in 1972, the Brodsky Quartet have performed over 3,000 concerts on the major stages of the world and have released more than 60 recordings. A natural curiosity and an insatiable desire to explore has propelled the group in a number of artistic directions and continues to ensure them not only a prominent presence on the international chamber music scene, but also a rich and varied musical existence. Their energy and craftsmanship have attracted numerous awards and accolades worldwide.

Throughout their career of more than 40 years, the Brodsky Quartet have enjoyed a busy international performing schedule, and have extensively toured the major festivals and venues throughout Australasia, North and South America, Asia, South Africa, and Europe, as well as in the UK, where the quartet is based. Over the years, the Brodsky Quartet have undertaken numerous performances of the complete cycles of quartets by Schubert, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Britten, Schoenberg, Zemlinsky, Webern and Bartok. It is, however, the complete Shostakovich cycle that has now become synonymous with their name. In 2016, Chandos will release their second recording of the cycle, this time live from the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam.

The Brodsky Quartet have always had a busy recording career. Releases include Petits Fours, a celebratory album of ‘Encore’ pieces arranged exclusively by the quartet for their 40th anniversary; a Debussy compilation including the quartet’s long-awaited recording of the great Debussy Quartet; In the South, featuring works by Verdi, Paganini, Wolf and Puccini; New World Quartets, comprising works by Dvorak, Copland, Gershwin and Brubeck; and the first of two Brahms discs, which includes the iconic Clarinet Quintet with Michael Collins. Awards for recordings include the Diapason D’Or and the CHOC du Monde de la Musique and the Brodsky Quartet have received a Royal Philharmonic Society Award.

The Škampa Quartet is among the very finest of an outstanding group of current Czech string quartets that has represented their country around the world for twenty five years. Through their mentors, the legendary Smetana Quartet, they trace their roots to the earliest quartets - such as the Bohemian Quartet - in a land described in the 18th century as the Conservatoire of Europe and that remains, to this day, the very cradle of European Chamber Music.

Their recordings of the quartets by Janacek and Smetana in particular are quoted as the bench-marks against which other performances are judged. Prizes at International Competitions, Awards from the Royal Philharmonic Society and others - and their appointment as the first-ever Resident Artists at Wigmore Hall led to invitations to perform at major Festivals world-wide.

Tom Poster is internationally recognised as a pianist of outstanding artistry, equally in demand as soloist and chamber musician across an unusually extensive repertoire. He has been described as “a marvel, [who] can play anything in any style” (The Herald), “mercurially brilliant” (The Strad), and as possessing “velvet-tipped sonority” (Gramophone). Since his London concerto debut at the age of 13, Tom has appeared in a wide-ranging concerto repertoire of over 40 major works. He features regularly on BBC radio and television and has made multiple appearances at the BBC Proms. Tom is pianist of the Aronowitz Ensemble and works with Alison Balsom, Ian Bostridge, Steven Isserlis and Guy Johnston. His critically-acclaimed debut solo CD was entitled ‘In Dance and Song’. He also regularly features as soloist on film and television soundtracks, including the Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning score for The Theory of Everything.

Cédric Tiberghien’s career has taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious halls, including most recently; Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Centre, Washington, Wigmore Hall and the Barbican in London, Salzburg’s Mozarteum and the Sydney Opera House. Recent and upcoming highlights include debuts with the London Symphony Orchestra and Opera di Roma Orchestra, return projects with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Auckland Philharmonia, Tasmania Symphony and the continuation of his complete Beethoven concerto cycle with the Orchestre National d’Ile de France.

Recital plans include a return to London’s Wigmore Hall, debuts at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, and a return to the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris. Cédric Tiberghien’s most recent recital disc released on Hyperion ( April 2016) is the first in a 3 volume exploration of Bartok’s solo piano works. His discography also includes Szymanowksi Etudes and Masques, Franck’s Symphonic Variations and Les Djinns, Brahms’s Concerto No.1 and six recital discs on Harmonia Mundi.

With over 60 concertos in his repertoire, Cédric Tiberghien has appeared with some of the world’s finest orchestras, including the Boston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Washington National Symphony, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, Orchestre National de France and Sydney Symphony. He is also a dedicated chamber musician, with regular partners including Alina Ibragimova, with whom he has recently completed an extensive recital and recording project featuring the complete Mozart sonatas for violin and piano.
