SUNDAY OCTOBER 9,

2016. 7:00 A.M. CITY TO

THE SEA HALF MARA-

THON /5K

The City to the Sea half mara-

thon course is a point-to-point

race that starts in downtown

San Luis Obispo. The course

winds through the city, takes

runners along scenic back-

roads, and ends in Pismo

Beach. The race starts at 7:00

a.m. The start line is at the

intersection of Higuera and

Court Street in downtown San

Luis Obispo. All runners will

receive an official short-

sleeve tech T-shirt and a deli-

cious post-race breakfast. All

half marathon runners will

receive a finisher’s

medal while the first 100 men

and women’s half marathon

finishers will also receive City

to the Sea coffee mugs.

The 5k course (3.1 miles) is

out-and-back and begins and

ends in Pismo Beach at Dino-

saur Caves Park, near the fin-

ish expo for the half mara-

thon. The scenic course winds

through the beautiful

neighborhoods of Shell Beach

with incredible views of the

Pacific Ocean. There is one

challenging climb on the oth-

erwise gentle course. The 5K

race starts at 7:30 a.m. 5K

Runners will receive an offi-

cial short-sleeve tech T-

shirt and a delicious post-race

FENCE LINE 7.5-MILE FUN RUN

AND 3.5MILE WALK, LA PURI-

SIMA MISSION, LOMPOC.

The Lizard Breath Fence Line

run/walk is back this year after

being canceled in 2015

because of the Mesa Fire

Here are the details: Approxi-

mately seven and a half miles,

sandy and hilly, or 3.5 mile

walk. Very scenic for those who

enjoy that. Very tough for those

who are looking for a challenge.

Meat for the ultra marathoner,

but not recommended for some-

one who is either A) not familiar

with the terrain or B) not in

very good shape. No whiners

allowed. You will sign a waiver,

Bubba. Registration at the

Chumash Village under the big

oaks towards the blacksmith

shop. Signups start at 9 AM;

with the run/walk starting at 10

AM. No online registration.

Race day registration starts at 8am

and the 5k and kids run race start is

9: 30 am. The 5K is $30 and the

Kids Run is $10. There will be live

music, bbq and silent auction to

follow. Plenty of parking at the

start! Remember to come early to

pick up your race number!

era" in Santa Barbara, Southern

California, this point-to-point

course begins on the picturesque

campus of UC-Santa Barbara and

heads down to the beautiful Go-

leta Beach and onto the scenic

Route 217. Runners then skirt the

exclusive community of Hope

Ranch, wind through the Santa

Barbara mesa area, and finishes

with a stunning two mile descent

to the sparkling Pacific Ocean

along the Santa Barbara coast-

line. The Santa Barbara Veterans

Day Half Marathon will treat en-

trants to a striking backdrop of

mountains and sea in this beauti-

ful destination city.

Scholarship Update Edith Vargas , a 2016 Cabrillo

graduate is now attending

Pepperdine University /Seaver

College. She is majoring in

Political Science with a minor

in Ethnic Studies. Edith is

currently enrolled in 17 units.

matics, First Year Seminar

Course, Humanities course

and a course in Music. Best of
