To make your participation as convenient as possible, we would like to provide the following information. Venues This year’s workshop will take place at Neue Mälzerei (New Malthouse). The listed historic building of the Neue Mälzerei belonged to the Brauerei Böhmisches Brauhaus and was built in 1899. At the end of the 19th century the Böhmische Brauhaus was the brewery with the biggest production capacity in Berlin. The day centre Neue Mälzerei is compact and exclusive. Three halls and three seminar rooms are available on 800 square metres of event surface. The two dome halls are the special highlights of this location in which 100 years ago the malt was dried for the beer production. Squarely in their form, with 5-m-high, arched covers, they create a unique space experience. Original brick walls are found there just as in the plenary hall and in the seminar rooms. Adaptable walls permit different variants: small or bigger seminar rooms, exhibition or catering space. To make your participation as convenient as possible, we would like to provide the following information. Venues This year’s workshop will take place at Neue Mälzerei (New Malthouse).

This year’s Wind Energy & Development Dialogue will take place at Spreespeicher. The venue is centrally located on the border of former East- and Westberlin along the main river of Berlin Spree. Built in 1913 it has been used originally as a granary for many years.

During the 90s it turned into a very attractive location mainly for the creative industry. Today the upper levels are often used as representative offices. The lower level is known as one of the most attractive location for all kinds of events such as gala dinners, distinguished receptions, conferences and seminars. The hotels are not in the same neighbourhood. During the workshop we will invite you to complimentary lunches. Breakfast will be served at the hotels. There will be a transfer from the Hotel TRYP on Monday, 24 September 2012. Departure time 11.45 a.m. All participants will meet in front of the hotel. There you will find a bus waiting for you. Please watch out for a giz sign on the window. Hotel NH Berlin Alexanderplatz is in walking distance to the workshop venue.

Travelling Directions

Berlin has two airports - Tegel TXL and Berlin Brandenburg International (former Schönefeld SXF). Berlin has a main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) which can easily be reached by train from all over Europe. Detailed international train schedules are available at www.bahn.de. The city center as well as both hotels are easily reachable by public transport. If you prefer to use public transportation please note the following information: Public transportation (bus, S-Bahn, Subway) costs 2.40 Euro for a single trip (Zone AB, which includes Airport Tegel). 3,10 Euro for Zone ABC, coming from Airport Schönefeld. You can also buy a City-Tour-Card for 72h for 22,90 € for the use of all public transport within the Zone AB. Watch out for a ticket machine before entering the vehicle. S-Bahn and U-Bahn (subway) tickets have to be stamped at the ticket validators before entering. To the hotel TRYP Berlin Mitte

• Approach from Airport “Tegel” By taxi: It takes about 30 minutes. A ride costs approx. 20 Euro. By public transportation: Take the Bus TXL from the airport to the stop “Hauptbahnhof”. Change there to the Bus Nr 147, 245, 120 direction “U Märkisches Museum”. Get off and walk 600 m.

• Approach from Airport “Berlin Brandenburg International (Schönefeld)” • By taxi: It takes about 50 minutes and costs approx. 50 Euro.

By public transportation: Take the S-Bahn S45 to stop “Suedkreuz” Change to S-Bahn S 2 or S 25 (direction North: Bernau or Hennigsdorf). Get off at stop “Friedrichstrasse”. Change to Subway U6 direction Alt-Tegel. Get off at stop “Naturkundemuseum”. Walk 500 m.

• Approach from Main Railway Station “Hauptbahnhof” By taxi: It takes about 3 minutes and costs approx. 7 Euro. By public transportation: Take Bus Nr 147 (Start), 245 (direction Nordbahnhof), 120 (direction Hainbuchenstrasse). Get off at stop “Invalidenpark” (1 stop) and walk 600 m.

To the hotel NH Berlin Alexanderplatz

• Approach from Airport “Tegel” By taxi: It takes about 30 minutes. A ride costs approx. 27 Euro. By public transportation: Take the Bus TXL from the airport to the stop “Alexanderplatz”. Change there to Tram M5, M6 (both direction Zingster Strasse), M8 (direction Ahrensfelde). Get off at stop “Vereinte Nationen”. From there it’s a 5 min walk to the hotel.

• Approach from Airport “Berlin Brandenburg International (Schönefeld)” • By taxi: It takes about 45 minutes and costs approx. 50 Euro.

By public transportation: Take the S-Bahn S9 to stop “Frankfurter Allee” Change to Subway U5 direction Alexanderplatz. Get off at stop “Strausberger Platz” (Exit Lebuser Strasse). From there it’s a 5 min walk to the hotel.

• Approach from Main Railway Station “Hauptbahnhof”

By taxi: It takes about 20 minutes and costs approx. 18 Euro. By public transportation: Take Bus Nr 142 (direction Ost-Bahnhof). Get off at “Friedrichsberger Strasse”. From there it’s a 2 min walk to the hotel.

Suggestions on Cultural Activities For suggestions on musicals and shows, classic concerts, cabaret, opera and ballet etc, please check out the Berlin event website at http://www.visitberlin.de/en (available in English) where ticket service is also provided. For those who want to watch English movies, there is the cinema “CineStar Original” at Sony Center / Potsdamer Platz. Address: Potsdamer Str. 4. Comprehensive information about Berlin can be found under www.berlin.de. Shopping The hotels are located close to Friedrichstrasse oder Alexanderplatz where you will find a wide range of shopping areas. If you like to visit further shopping streets of Berlin, you can easily reach Potsdamer Platz or Kurfürstendamm by public transportation.
