Acts 1:8 As a congregation that focuses on partnering with the Holy Spirit to fulfill the Great Commission, First Baptist Church continues to be committed to producing disciples who make disciples. As Jesus pointed out to His followers in Acts 1:8, we are to be His witnesses beginning in Jerusalem. Our “Jerusalem” is the city of Columbus and the areas around Lowndes County. We must be willing to reach our local neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that more may come to know Him and ultimately point others to the same good news that changed lives and eternities. The Missions and Ministries committee has developed a list of local area ministries where you can be a part of fulfilling the mission of reaching the lost in our “Jerusalem.” Will your investment in eternity begin at home? Strategy !Sunday   School   and   small   group   ministry   classes  provide   a   great   opportunity   for   discipleship,  fellowship,   and   evangelism.   However,   the  strategy   is   not   limited   to   classes   but   is   also  available   to   individuals.   The   strategy   of  missions  at  First  Baptist  Church  is  to  be  a  beacon  of  light  in  our   community,   preparing   disciples,   and   sending  those   whom   God   has   called   out   into   the   world  through  multiple  missions  opportunities.  In  order  to  do  this,  we  must  be  willing  to  live  intentionally  mission   minded.   These   opportunities   include  ministering  to  the  poor,  the  weak,  the  lonely,  the  oppressed,  the  hungry,  and  the  lost.  The  goal  is  to  come  alongside  ministries  within   our   community  that   meet   these   needs   while   carrying   out   the  mission   of   intentionally   sharing   the   Gospel   of  Jesus   Christ.   If   we   truly   love   our   neighbor   as  ourselves   we   will   share   with   them   the   gift   that  will  change  their  eternity.    !“And  the  King  will  answer  and  say  to  them,  ‘Truly  I  say  to  you,  to  the  extent  that  you  did  it  to  one  of  these   brothers   of  mine,   even   the   least   of   them,  you  did  it  to  Me.’”  Matthew  25:40
